DraftKings MLB Picks For May 15
There are eight games today, but only seven are in the main DraftKings tournament. As luck would have it, the two best pitchers of the day, Carlos Carrasco and Chris Archer, are in the game that is left out. Where does that leave us? With a slate full of average to below average pitchers. Letās check some stats to separate one from the other.

The money line in yesterdayās late tournament was all the way down to 107.5 thanks to many average pitching performances. I didnāt even hit triple digits in either of my lineups. Ivan Nova was a bad pick, and so was Joey Gallo!
The winning lineup was down a bit to 187.5. They rolled the dice and game up aces with Alex Meyer, and had big games from every hitter except for Joc Pederson.
These picks are based mostly on statistical analysis . If you have a gut feeling, then by all means, follow that. This is not an exact science. The best lineups usually have a mix of proven stats and hot players. Check out this post from Matt McGarvey for great tips about whether to use a hot player in DFS or not.

P: Dan Straily ($8,200):Ā Straily has held the Astros to a .211 average. Well, the four of them that he has faced. He has struck out one of every three, and given up just one run. I will take those abbreviated stats, especially against Joe Musgrove.
P: Zack Godley ($6,300):Ā Godley was very good against the Mets when he faced them last season. They are hitting just .158 off of him with one run, but only two strikeouts. He is not a high strikeout pitcher, so that limits his upside, but the Mets have struggled on offense with all of the injuries they have had.
C: J.T. Realmuto ($3,400):Ā Realmuto has often led off for the Marlins this year. I have a feeling the fish could rack up a few runs against Joe Musgrove, so I want to have the top couple of hitters in the order just in case.
1B: Freddie Freeman ($4,900):Ā Freeman is 2-3 with a double, a triple, and a RBI against Mike Bolsinger. This is going to be a high scoring game. I want exposure to both teams in this one with two iffy pitchers taking the hill. I will be surprised if either goes more than five innings.
2B: Jonathan Villar ($4,500):Ā Villar Ā has owned Luis Perdomo so far. Villar is perfect off of him in six at bats. He has five singles and a walk, but his only counting stat is a stolen base. That is still a lot of crooked numbers.
3B: Jake Lamb ($4,700):Ā Jake Lamb never got a shot at Zach Wheeler in his games against Arizona. Lamb has drastic spits in his career. He is hitting .273 against right-handed pitching with 40 homers in 915 at bats. He is hitting just .166 against lefties. Lamb is a strong bet against the right-handed Wheeler.
SS: Corey Seager ($4,600):Ā Seager is 2-6 with a RBI so far off of Matt Cain. There could be greater things on the horizon, perhaps as early as tonight. I like Dodger lefties tonight since AT&T Park is still decent for left-handed power.
OF: Mike Trout ($5,400):Ā An Angels stack could be in order against Mike Pelfrey. I may switch to that at some point today as the lineups start trickling in, but for now, I definitely want Trout if nothing else.
OF: Khris Davis ($4,100):Ā Davis is mired in a horrible slump after a hot start, but we all have come to expect this for Davis. He is known for his scorching hot streaks and arctic cold spells. I will take a chance on low ownership against Yovani Gallardo.
OF: Matt Kemp ($3,900):Ā Kemp is only 2-9 against Bolsinger, but he has a walk, a homer, two runs scored, and two RBI. That is good enough for me to run Kemp out there at this bargain price.
Next: DraftKings Main Lineup 2

P: Brandon McCarthy ($9,100):Ā McCarthy does not have a good history against the Giants, but he is pitching well this year. The Giants donāt have a prolific offense, so McCarthy could come through with a good performance. However, I still get nervous when running a pitcher out there with poor past stats against his opponent. On a light slate, I will take the chance at a mostly pitcherās park.

P: Zack Wheeler ($7,200): Itās Zack attack day at Chase Field with Wheeler facing Godley. Both of them have dominated the other thus far ā the teams are a combined 8-50 (.160) off of both pitchers! Thatās good enough for me to use one in each lineup, just in case.
C: Yasmani Grandal ($3,500):Ā I still donāt trust Matt Cain, specifically the home ERA (1.13). The Dodgers are hitting fairly well right now, so using their lefties against Cain is a solid idea.
1B: Yonder Alonso ($4,100):Ā Alonso is an impressive 10-28(.357) with four doubles, a homer, four runs scored, and five RBI against Yovani Gallardo. Alonso is already having the best season of his career just six weeks in. He could have a big night against Gallardo.
2B: Jose Altuve ($5,000):Ā Altuve is only 2-9 with a RBI against Dan Straily, but this is a cavernous park that should cater to Altuveās skill set.
3B: Trevor Plouffe ($3,400):Ā Plouffe is only 4-14(.286) against Gallardo, but he has four doubles, two homers, three runs scored, and three RBI against Gallardo.
SS: Carlos Correa ($4,900):Ā Correa has never faced Dan Straily, but he is coming off a big series in New York. I will take a top of the Astros order stack against Straily. He will rack up his strikeouts, but he gives up his share of runs as well.
OF: Giancarlo Stanton ($4,500):Ā I still donāt believe in Joe Musgrove or his price. Stanton has awesome power, and he seems to like hitting at home, despite the fact that it is not a hitterās park. I will take a chance on Stanton here.
OF: Jose Bautista ($4,400):Ā Bautista is only 4-15(.267) against Bartolo Colon in his career, but he has five walks, a homer, three runs scored, and four RBI against him. Bautista and the Blue Jays are finally getting going on offense. That is bad news for Colon. A Blue Jays stack will be a popular one tonight.
OF: Rajai Davis ($3,900):Ā Davis is a modest 2-7 against Gallardo, but he will lead off against a pitcher prone to blow ups. However, Gallardo has a respectable 3.09 ERA in O.co Coliseum.
