DraftKings MainĀ MLB Picks For May 24

Ten of the 15 games make up the main DraftKings tournament tonight. The early start for Cleveland and Cincinnati keeps them out of all tournaments except the afternoon one. You will have to enter that if you want to stack Indians! How about this slate? Sale is on the mound vs. Texas. Is he worth the money? Where are the bargains? Let’s take a look!

More from DFS

The money line last night was all the way up to 131.25 with all of the offensive outbursts last night. The lineup with Jon Lester missed because I missed with Jesse Hahn. The other lineup was just short. It had 131.25 DraftKings points. That is usually enough.

The winning lineup was actually down a touch to 230.35. He had the pitchers that I did with Clayton Kershaw and German Marquez, but gained separation with two homer nights from Charlie Blackmon and Michael Conforto along with an unlikely homer from Jordy Mercer to take down the tournament.

These picks are based mostly on statistical analysis . If you have a gut feeling, then by all means, follow that. This is not an exact science. The best lineups usually have a mix of proven stats and hot players. Check out this post from Matt McGarvey for great tips about whether to use a hot player in DFS or not.

May 22, 2017; Atlanta, GA, USA; Atlanta Braves first baseman Matt Adams (18) hits a single in the fourth inning against the Pittsburgh Pirates at SunTrust Park. Mandatory Credit: Jason Getz-USA TODAY Sports

P: Chris Sale ($13,500):Ā Forget for a minute that Sale is facing Martin Perez. He has absolutely dominated the Rangers in his career. Few pitchers own this kind of dominance over anyone. The current Rangers are a pathetic 9-80(.113) with just one homer, three runs, and a whopping 37 strikeouts. That is nearly at 50% clip! Sale looks like he is in for a dominant performance.

P: Jeremy Hellickson ($7,100):Ā Hellickson has held the Rockies to a .179 average in 56 at bats with only one home surrendered and 16 strikeouts. Those are some really good numbers against a pretty potent team. They are less potent at sea level, but there is still some risk involved here. That said, I like his chances for a win against Tyler Chatwood, and the elevated strikeout potential make Hellckson look like a bargain tonight.

C: Sandy Leon ($3,300):Ā Leon is Chris Sale’s personal catcher, so you know he will be in there. He has only faced Martin Perez twice, notching a walk, but Leon’s power against lefties is well documented. He owns a .446 wOBA against lefties since the beginning of last year.

1B: Matt Adams ($3,500):Ā Trevor Williams, he of the 6.04 ERA on the season, will take the show to SunTrust park tonight. That is great news for Matt Adams. He has homered in each of the last two games, and even drove in the walk off last night (this morning) just before 2am after a lengthy rain delay in Atlanta. Expect Adams to be in there and swinging again in a park that is proving to be great for lefty power. That is bad news for Williams and the Pirates tonight.

2B: Yangervis Solarte ($2,800): Robert Gsellman has been pretty bad this year, and Solarte is still batting cleanup for the Padres. All of Solarte’s homers have come against right handed pitching this year, and Gsellman owns a 5.25 ERA at home this year. It won’t get any better than this for Solarte!

3B: Evan Longoria ($4,000):Ā If I didn’t have players I really liked at first base, I would take a shot on Rickie Weeks tonight as well. The Rays are hitting .304 in 69 at bats against Ricky Nolasco, so stacking here is a pretty good option. Longoria is 5-19(.263) with a walk, two doubles, a homer, three runs scored, and three RBI in his career against Nolasco.

SS: Erick AybarĀ ($2,300):Ā I have no little nuggets that tell you this is a sneaky great play. Not this time. I just have an outfield that I really want to put together, and I need to save money because I’m using Sale. Enter Aybar, who has four homers on the season. He is also facing the aforementioned struggling Robert Gsellman. I will take a chance for this price.

OF: Michael Conforto ($4,900):Ā Conforto also slugged two homers last night. Does he have anything left for tonight? I would think so. Conforto is 2-3 with a walk and two doubles against Jarred Cosart so far. Don’t be surprised if one of those doubles clears the fence tonight.

OF: Corey Dickerson ($4,700):Ā I am going to ignore Dickerson’s 0-3 career mark against Nolasco for the night. He had a big night last night, and should make up for doing nothing against Nolasco in his first try against him. Dickerson is on a roll right now. He should be able to keep it up against Nolasco.

OF: Adam Frazier ($3,800):Ā Remember what I said about left handed power in SunTrust Park? Frazier is leading off, has some power, and is facing Julio Teheran, who has some of the most drastic splits around. Lefties have a robust .399 wOBA against Teheran this year. Oh, did I mention that Teheran has a gaudy 10.50 ERA at home this year? Stack lefty Pirates. It could be a high scoring affair in Atlanta.

DraftKings
May 17, 2017; St. Louis, MO, USA; St. Louis Cardinals starting pitcher Mike Leake (8) pitches during the fourth inning against the Boston Red Sox at Busch Stadium. Mandatory Credit: Jeff Curry-USA TODAY Sports

P:Ā Luis SeverinoĀ ($9,900): Severino has actually been worse at home, which isn’t that surprising given the small dimensions. The Royals aren’t known for power, and though they wont strike out much, Severino has a great shot at a win with Jason Hammel on the hill opposite him.

More from FanSided

P: Mike Leake ($8,100):Ā The Cards and Dodgers battled late into the night last night, meaning the Cardinals made the Dodgers squander another gem by Clayton Kershaw. We could have another low scoring affair tonight. Leake has held the Dodgers to a .170 average in 96 at bats, and even though they have smoked four homers, they only have eight runs to show for it. Leake has never racked up the strikeouts, but if he isn’t allowing base runners, we can live with it. Leake’s strong 2017 should continue here.

C:Ā GaryĀ SanchezĀ ($4,500):Ā Sanchez hit a home run against Jason Hammel in his first start against the Yankees this year. Now Sanchez gets to take a crack at him at hitter-friendly Yankee Stadium. Sanchez was 2-3 in that game. He should at least be able to get one hit tonight!

1B: Matt Holliday ($4,000):Ā Holliday is 6-22(.273) with two walks, three doubles, a homer, four runs scored, and two RBI against Hammel. A Yankee stack could be in order tonight. I definitely want my exposure to this!

2B: Joe Panik ($3,500):Ā Panik has only faced Kyle Hendricks three times. He has come away with a single and a double. Panik is batting second in a decent lineup that has hit Hendricks hard on a night where the wind will likely be blowing out of the Friendly Confines. Panik is a suitable dart throw.

3B: Anthony Rendon ($3,700):Ā We are a day late on Rendon. He had a huge game last night, but I like the Nationals bats to have another good night. Sam Gaviglio was solid in his first start, but facing the White Sox in Safeco is much different than facing the Nationals in D.C. This could be another big night for the Nats offense.

SS: Jean Segura ($4,200):Ā Segura is 5-11 with a double, a homer, two runs scored, and two RBI in his career against Tanner Roark. He certainly like the Nationals when he was in the N.L.! He plated the only Seattle run last night. Don’t be surprised if he gets another.

OF:Ā George SpringerĀ ($4,200):Ā There is no stats to support this. This is just Springer against a struggling left handed pitcher at Minute Maid Park. You know, the one that has a really show porch in right? I’m taking my chances on Springer hitting one out tonight.

OF: Brandon Belt ($4,000):Ā Belt is 3-7 with a triple, a homer, two runs scored, and two RBI in his career against Kyle Hendricks. The Giants aren’t a prolific offense, but they are suitable with the wind blowing out at Wrigley.

OF: Andrew McCutchen ($3,700):Ā Not only lefties have taken it to Teheran. McCutchen is 5-18(.278) with a walk, a double, two homers, and four RBI off of Teheran in his career.
