DraftKings Main MLB Picks For June 15

There are seven games in the main DraftKings tournament. We only have one true ace, but is he worth $5,000 more than any other pitcher on the slate? What will your offense look like if you pay up for him? Let’s check out some stats!

More from DFS

The money line last night was down a bit to 108.05. My revamped second lineup made it in despite a poor outing from Jake Odorizzi. My other lineup was derailed by no offense with Corey Kluber.

The winning lineup was down a little bit as well to 221.7. That was still 18.5 points ahead of second place! He gamble with Francisco Liriano and came up big, along with Mookie Betts and Byron Buxton having big nights.

These picks are based mostly on statistical analysis . If you have a gut feeling, then by all means, follow that. This is not an exact science. The best lineups usually have a mix of proven stats and hot players. Check out this post from Matt McGarvey for great tips about whether to use a hot player in DFS or not.

DraftKings
Jun 10, 2017; Boston, MA, USA; Boston Red Sox starting pitcher Chris Sale (41) delivers against the Detroit Tigers during the first inning at Fenway Park. Mandatory Credit: Winslow Townson-USA TODAY Sports /

P: Chris Sale ($14,100): The Phillies are only hitting .237 against Sale in 38 at bats, but they have driven in five runs. However, they struck out 14 times in those 38 at bats. Is there a chance that Tommy Joseph catches one for a three run homer again? Yes, but with the way Sale is pitching this year, I wouldn’t bet on it. He also has a 2.46 ERA at home this year. There is a lot of risk to fading Sale tonight, but I will for my other lineup.

P: Michael Wacha ($6,300): Wacha has held the Brewers to a .207 average in 29 at bats with only two runs scored and eight strikeouts. The Brewers are still a free-swinging team, but as you saw against Mike Leake last night, they have the power to explode on anyone. However, for this price with the elevated strikeout potential, Wacha is worth the risk.

C: Martin Maldonado ($2,900): Maldonado is crushing lefties this year. He is 13-38(.342) with five walks, a homer, three doubles, and five RBI against southpaws. Tonight he draws Matt Strahm in his first major league start. Strahm will be capped at about 70 pitches, but Maldonado should get at least one crack at him.

1B: Matt Carpenter ($4,000): Carpenter is 6-15 with a walk, two doubles, and two solo homers in his career against Zach Davies. The Cardinals as a whole are hitting .322 with five homers and nine runs in 87 at bats off of Davies, so a Cardinals stack is not a bad idea and is one of the cheaper ones available tonight.

2B: Josh Rutledge ($2,900): Rutledge is the de facto starter at third base due to the struggles of Pablo Sandoval. Panda keeps getting a start or two a week, but he is doing nothing in those starts. Sandoval started last night, so Rutledge should be in there tonight. He is facing a struggling rookie, so I like him at this price point.

3B: Yunel Escobar ($3,400): Escobar has also hit left handers hard this year, and he is still batting cleanup for the Angels. His price has been slow to rise because he hasn’t gone on a tear, but he has relatively consistent production. Something can be said for that at this price.

SS: Aledmys Diaz ($3,100): The price is also right on Diaz. He is 4-9 with a solo homer and a steal against Davies in his career. He still comes at quite a discount, and is a nice addition to my mini Cardinals stack.

OF: Andrew Benintendi ($5,000): Nick Pivetta has struggled to a 5.52 ERA on the season. Now he brings that subpar performance to Fenway, where the Red Sox could really make him pay. However, if Mitch Moreland is out again, it takes away my favorite cheap player. I ultimately decided that stacking the Angels was a better bet so I could fit Sale into the lineup. I still want exposure to Pivetta though, so I will get it with arguably the hottest hitter in the lineup.

OF: Cameron Maybin ($4,700): Maybin picked up right where he left off in his return from the disabled list. He has 80 DraftKings points in just six games since his DL stint. There is no reason not to play him until he cools off.

OF: Austin Slater ($3,200): Slater is hitting .357 with a homer and six RBI in 28 at bats since his call up. He gets his first crack at Coors Field tonight, and is priced right for us bargain hunters. If you want exposure to Coors in a lineup with Sale, Slater is the way to go.

Jun 10, 2017; Boston, MA, USA; Detroit Tigers starting pitcher Justin Verlander (35) delivers against the Boston Red Sox during the first inning at Fenway Park. Mandatory Credit: Winslow Townson-USA TODAY Sports /

P: Jordan Montgomery ($8,600): Montgomery has never faced the A’s, but the Coliseum is a noted pitcher’s park. His ERA is 0.61 runs lower on the road anyway, so Montgomery should be in for a very nice game against the light-hitting A’s.

More from FanSided

P: Justin Verlander ($7,600): Verlander could be a superb bargain tonight. His recent struggles have his price plummeting, and rightfully so, but he has a couple of things going for him tonight. First off, the Rays are only hitting .198 against him in 91 at bats with only one homer, eight runs, and 27 strikeouts. And despite his 4.68 ERA, Verlander’s ERA at Comerica Park sits pretty at 2.10. Use him and enjoy the savings!

C: Salvador Perez ($3,800): Perez is 8-21(.381) with four doubles, a homer, five runs scored, and three RBI in his career against Ricky Nolasco. Nolasco somehow has a 5.81 ERA at home, which is a solid pitcher’s park. The Royals blew up on offense in the Giants series. They should be able to continue that success against Nolasco.

1B: Mark Reynolds ($5,300): Reynolds is 5-18(.278) with a homer, three runs scored, and three RBI in his career against Matt Moore. 12 of his 17 home runs have come at Coors Field (in 22 less at bats than on the road). He is a great bet to take Moore deep again tonight.

2B: Daniel Murphy ($4,700): Robert Gsellman has pitched well enough to stick in the rotation for the time being, but the Nationals are a tall order. Especially for a right handed pitcher. Murphy is hitting .345 on the season. He is going to be involved if the Nationals pick on Gsellman tonight. This is a shallow position on today’s ledger, so it’s worth paying a bit more for a bat like Murphy.

3B: Mike Moustakas ($4,500): Moose slugged three homers in his last three games on this left coast swing, and now has 18 on the season. He is half way to the franchise record of 36 set in 1985 by Steve “Bye Bye” Balboni. Don’t be surprised if Moose add to his total tonight. He is only 4-17(.235) against Nolasco, but he has two walks, two homers, and four RBI off of him.

SS: Trevor Story ($3,700): Story has only faced Matt Moore three times, but he has come away with two walks and a solo homer against him. Story is starting to show signs of life at the plate. He drove in a run in every game of the Pittsburgh series at a true pitcher’s park. Maybe some home cooking can start getting his numbers up. At any rate, he is priced way too low against Moore.

OF: Yoenis Cespedes ($4,400): Cespedes is 6-10 with two walks, two homers, five runs scored, and two RBI in his career against Gio Gonzalez. The Mets have hit .240 with seven homers and 26 runs scored against Gio in 196 at bats. There is significant risk involved to using Gonzalez tonight, though most of the Mets power is from the left side except Cespedes.

OF: Jackie Bradley, Jr. ($4,300): I couldn’t make Bradley’s salary fit in with the rest of my Red Sox, so I made sure to get exposure in this lineup too. I think Nick Pivetta has some issues at Fenway tonight, and I am banking on the Red Sox lefties to be the reason why.

OF: Juan Lagares ($3,000): I am hoping that Lagares is in the lineup tonight. He is 15-38(.395) with a walk, three doubles, a triple, a homer, five runs scored, a steal, and four RBI in his career against Gio Gonzalez. He could have a huge night for the price so long as the Mets find a place for him in the lineup. Considering his past stats, they should!
