DraftKings MLB Picks For June 27

We have a full 15 game slate tonight with plenty of good pitching options out there. Is this a night to fade the aces and go cheap to pay for bats? Let’s see what the stats say!

More from DFS

The money line was up to 121.85 last night. My Chris Sale/Jeff Samardzija lineup only had three double digit days from batters. The other lineup was derailed by Carlos Carrasco and a White Sox stack.

The winning lineup was at 215.8. He used Jordan Montgomery with Sale and stacked the Cleveland/Texas game. Well played, sir!

These picks are based mostly on statistical analysis . If you have a gut feeling, then by all means, follow that. This is not an exact science. The best lineups usually have a mix of proven stats and hot players. Check out this post from Matt McGarvey for great tips about whether to use a hot player in DFS or not.

Jun 16, 2017; New York City, NY, USA; Washington Nationals starting pitcher Max Scherzer (31) pitches during the first inning against the New York Mets at Citi Field. Mandatory Credit: Anthony Gruppuso-USA TODAY Sports /

P: Max Scherzer ($13,000): On paper, this looks like a matchup of aces. Look closer, and you will see that Scherzer has a huge advantage. Arrieta is struggling this year, and is showing no signs of coming around. The Cubs are hitting .231 against Scherzer with three homers, but only four runs with a staggering 16 strikeouts in 39 at bats. Scherzer has been brilliant this year. I see no reason for him not to be again.

P: Jhoulys Chacin ($6,800): The Braves are actually hitting .282 against Chacin with four homers and 12 runs in only 71 at bats. However, Chacin has an impressive 1.72 ERA in eight home appearances (seven starts). Expect another strong start for Chacin at home.

C: Evan Gattis ($3,800): Gattis is 4-15 with a double, a homer, a steal, two runs scored, and four RBI in his career against Sean Manaea. Manaea has been outstanding against Houston. They are only hitting .171 off of him in 108 at bats with only Gattis hitting a homer off of him. However, I find it hard to start anyone against Houston this year. Do so at your own risk.

1B: Logan Morrison ($4,900): Trevor Williams has a 5.09 ERA, and has only been marginally better on the road. Morrison is mercilessly beating on right handed pitching. Williams doesn’t stand much of a chance against LoMo tonight.

2B: DJ LeMahieu ($3,700): Matt Cain has been terrible in June, even at home. Sure, the Rockies aren’t nearly the same on the road, but neither are the Twins. They beat on him in AT&T Park earlier this month. There is reason to believe that the Rockies can do the same. LeMahieu is 10-25(.400) with three walks, two doubles, a homer, four runs scored, two steals, and two RBI in his career against Cain. LeMahieu looks way too cheap tonight.

3B: Ryder Jones ($2,000): The Giants finally designated Aaron Hill for assignment, which is a tad surprising since Eduardo Nunez is hurt. The Giants elected to go with Jones until Nunes comes back. That speaks volumes about what they think about Hill’s performance. Jones went 0-4 in his debut last night, but I will gladly take a shot on him at the minimum. He will be in the lineup against Jeff Hoffman, who had the worst start of his career in his last outing.

SS: Trevor Story ($3,100): Story is 4-9 with a homer and three RBI in his career against Matt Cain. Both Story and Cain have struggled this year. If Story is going to get it going at all this year, it will likely be here. I wouldn’t hold my breath though. I’m hoping that his struggles with keep his ownership down. Story can’t be this bad all year, can he?

OF: Corey Dickerson ($4,800): Dickerson has slowed down some, but I still want him leading off for a lineup that could put up quite a few runs tonight.

OF: Cameron Maybin ($4,000): Maybin has never faced Kenta Maeda, but with as well as Maybin has done since taking over the leadoff role, it’s hard not to take him at this price. There was a reason that the Dodgers exiled Maeda to the bullpen. He didn’t exactly earn his way back into the rotation or anything.

OF: Ian Desmond ($3,900): Desmond is 7-19(.368) with a walk, a double, a homer, two runs scored, a steal, and two RBI in his career against Matt Cain. There are enough cheap Rockies for a stack so as to not break the bank. Honestly, Charlie Blackmon and Nolan Arenado don’t have numbers that are any better than the three in this lineup, and they both cost at least $1,000 more.

Jun 23, 2017; Kansas City, MO, USA; Kansas City Royals catcher Salvador Perez (13) hits a one run double in the seventh inning against the Toronto Blue Jays at Kauffman Stadium. Mandatory Credit: Denny Medley-USA TODAY Sports /

P: Luis Severino ($10,100): Severino dominated the White Sox in the Bronx earlier this year, and he has an even better ERA on the road. Severino has a 2.70 ERA in seven road starts compared to 3.89 at home. His other start against the White Sox netted 30.2 DraftKings points. Could it be even better tonight?

More from FanSided

P:  James Paxton ($8,700): There are a lot of great middle tier options tonight who have great splits at home like Dan Straily, Justin Verlander and Drew Pomeranz. However, Paxton also has a favorable home split with a 2.48 ERA, and he has by far the easiest opponent in the Phillies.

C: Salvador Perez ($3,700): Perez is an impressive 23-55(.418) with eight doubles, two homers, five runs scored, and an amazing 14 RBI in his career against Justin Verlander. Perez is the only Royal I’m considering tonight, but in my mind, he is a must-play with those stats!

1B: Miguel Cabrera ($3,600): MIggy is 1-4 with a two run double against Matt Strahm. Not a great line by any means, but he is far too talented against a young pitcher to be this cheap. Miggy is one of my favorite bargains of the night.

2B: Darwin Barney ($2,500): Barney is an impressive 6-13(.462) with a solo home run against Kevin Gausman. With those stats and how awful Gausman has been over the last seven weeks, Barney is priced way too low. That’s fine by me, because I wanted to pay up for this pitching tandem.

3B: Yunel Escobar ($3,700): Escobar is still batting cleanup, and is still a huge bargain at this price. Kenta Maeda did little to improve his 4.87 ERA in his term in the bullpen. I doubt he will be much better here.

SS: Xander Bogaerts ($5,000): Bogaerts is 6-11(.545) with three walks, a double, and a run scored against Hector Santiago. Every time I stack Red Sox, they underachieve, so I am taking my exposure here with the best past stats and leaving it at that. For better or for worse.

OF: J.D. Martinez ($4,500): Martinez had two singles in two tries and drove in a run against Strahm the first time he faced him. Again, that isn’t a monster total, but it’s definitely enough to make me want him on my squad again. He should hit double digits tonight.

OF: Giancarlo Stanton ($4,100): Stanton is 5-7 with a walk, a homer, two runs scored, and three RBI in his career against Robert Gsellman. Marlins Park will help Gsellman out some, but Marlins Park still has a problem holding Stanton most days. Gsellman would do himself some good by just walking Stanton three times.

OF: Marcell Ozuna ($4,000): Ozuna has been even better against Gsellman. He is 4-8 with three homers and seven RBI against Gsellman already. Don’t be surprised if Ozuna has a big day here.
