DraftKings Main MLB Picks For June 28

We haveĀ 13 games in the main DraftKings tournament. As usual, there are a couple of aces floating around, and a few mid tier pitchers that could pitch like aces. Who should we pay up for? Where can we save? Where should we stack? Let’s check out some stats!

More from DFS

The money line yesterdayĀ was pretty average at 116.85. My lineup with Luis Severino and James Paxton made it in easily thanks to my mini Tigers stack as well. The other was undone by an ill-fated Rockies stack.

The winning lineup wasĀ also pretty average at 210.55 DraftKings points. He used Carlos Martinez and Drew Pomeranz, both of whom were 10% owned or less. He also had a big game from every hitter, banking on a hybrid Red Sox/Reds stack.

These picks are based mostly on statistical analysis . If you have a gut feeling, then by all means, follow that. This is not an exact science. The best lineups usually have a mix of proven stats and hot players. Check out this post from Matt McGarvey for great tips about whether to use a hot player in DFS or not.

Jun 4, 2017; Kansas City, MO, USA; Cleveland Indians starting pitcher Trevor Bauer (47) warms up before the first inning against the Kansas City Royals at Kauffman Stadium. The Indians won 8-0. Mandatory Credit: Jay Biggerstaff-USA TODAY Sports

P: Stephen Strasburg ($11,600):Ā The Cubs were shut down by Max Scherzer last night. Can Strasburg do the same? The Cubs are only hitting .220 off of Strasburg in 50 at bats with only one homer and four runs. The bad part? Only 13 strikeouts. Even Scherzer only managed six strikeouts last night. If you are looking for a reason so fade Strasburg, I am equal opportunity. I want you to have all the facts. Strasburg has a 4.71 ERA at home.

P: Trevor Bauer ($6,200):Ā Bauer’s 5.53 ERA on the season will scare off many, and that’s what I’m hoping for. Not only have the Rangers struggled on the road, but they are hitting just .171 against Bauer in 35 at bats with only a three run Rougned Odor homer as a blemish. He also has an impressive ten strikeouts. The numbers significantly favor Bauer, but he hasn’t always come through this year in favorable situations.

C: Jason Castro ($3,200):Ā Castro is 4-9 with a double, a homer, and two RBI in his career against Rick Porcello. Porcello has not had a quality start since June 2nd, and even that one was barely a quality start. He pitched a gem in Minneapolis on May 6th, but Porcello’s ERA is 0.60 higher at home. Signs point to the Twins getting the better of Porcello, so I am putting together a mini stack.

1B: Kennys Vargas ($3,400):Ā Vargas is 5-10 with a walk, two doubles, a triple, a homer, three runs scored, and two RBI in his career against Rick Porcello. Most of that was done during last year’s CY Young winning campaign. Vargas is too cheap considering his past history. The Twins have seven homers and 28 runs against Porcello in only 195 at bats while hitting .256.

2B: Brian Dozier ($4,600):Ā Dozier finally seems to be coming around lately, hitting two homers in the last nine games. He is only 8-37).216) against Rick Porcello, but he has three walks, a double, three homers, seven runs scored, two steals, and eight RBI off of him. Dozier always finds a way to do some damage against Porcello. I will take the chance that he does it again.

3B: Josh Harrison ($4,100):Ā Harrison has a .414 wOBA against left handed pitching this year. I actually like Blake Snell as a cheap play, but Harrison and Andrew McCutchen are still hitting well, so I am staying away from Snell for DFS. There are several options that are just as good within $500 of Snell. So instead, I will go with Harrison’s splits and hope for the best.

SS: Xander Bogaerts ($4,800):Ā Once again, the Twins have a young pitcher on the mound. The Red Sox teed off on Hector Santiago last night. They could tonight against another lefty, Adalberto Mejia. Mejia was strong in his last start against Cleveland, turning in the only scoreless start of his young career so far. However, just two games ago he was blistered by the Mariners. Boston hits lefties well. At the forefront of that is Bogaerts and…..

OF: Mookie Betts ($5,000):Ā Betts. He picked up a hit and a RBI last night. Dustin Pedroia and Chris Young did the most damage, so if you go with a full Red Sox stack, they should both be in there.

OF: Chris YoungĀ ($3,600):Ā Young had a three run homer yesterday, but it wasn’t against the left handed starter. It was against the right handed reliever. In fact, Young has not homered in 45 at bats against left handed pitching this year, which is very unusual. He is due. That and the fact that the Twins have a pretty lousy bullpen has me using Young anyway.

OF: Jake Marisnick ($3,300): Marisnick is 3-4 with a steal, a homer, three runs scored, and five RBI in his career against Jesse Hahn. He may not go quite that nuts again, but he looks really cheap for what he is capable of. I like a healthy serving of points for Marisnick tonight, making him one of my top bargains.

DraftKings
Jun 10, 2017; Phoenix, AZ, USA; Arizona Diamondbacks starting pitcher Zack Godley (52) throws during the first inning against the Milwaukee Brewers at Chase Field. Mandatory Credit: Matt Kartozian-USA TODAY Sports

P: Zack Godley ($8,800): This is more a play on his mound opponent than anything else. The only Cardinal who has faced Godley so far is Jedd Gyorko. He has a single in two at bats. Adam Wainwright has been awful on the road this year, and awful on planet Earth in June. He has a 8.10 ERA in five June starts. His road ERA this year is a dreadful 9.48 in seven starts. There is no way he stops the Arizona offense. That means Godley is a lock for a win. His 2.53 season ERA, including a stellar 2.13 at home, also makes this an easy decision over the other top pitchers.

More from FanSided

P: Ivan Nova ($6,400):Ā The Rays are hitting .257 against Nova in 70 at bats with five homers. The problem is that he has allowed 12 runs. Evan Longoria has three of the homers and 2/3 of the RBI. If Nova can stay away from him, he could have a nice game here. Nova has a 2.53 ERA at home this season. The Rays strike out a lot, and will be without the DH. Nova is a great way to save some money.

C: Gary Sanchez ($5,000): Carlos Rodon is making his first start of the 2017 season. He had flashes of brilliance in 2016, but making his debut against the Yankees is a tall order. I still like the Arizona stack a little more, but I definitely wanted some exposure to this game. Sanchez is a masher at a weak position. This is a good a place as any.

1B: Paul Goldschmidt ($5,600): Goldy is 4-11 with a double, two solo homers, a walk, and three runs scored in his career against Adam Wainwright. With the junk Wainwright has been throwing in June, Goldschmidt is going to feel like he’s swinging at beach ball.

2B: Brandon Drury ($3,900): Drury has only faced Wainwright twice. He has come away with a two run homer. Wainwright isn’t fooling anyone right now, and the Cardinal bullpen hasn’t been a lot better. This is a night to stack Diamondbacks.

3B: Josh Donaldson ($4,300):Ā Donaldson is only 3-13(.231) against Wade Miley, but he has walked twice, homered twice, and driven in three. His price seems low for what he is capable of and the pitcher he is facing. Low enough that I am moving off of Evan Longoria, who has strong numbers against Nova, to use Donaldson.

SS: Troy Tulowitzki ($3,200):Ā Tulo is an offensive wasteland for the most part right now, but he is 10-25(.400) with four walks, three doubles, a homer, four runs scored, and four RBI in his career against Wade Miley. That isn’t all Coors Field. Tulowitzki just hits him well. For this price, its worth seeing if he still can.

OF: Corey Dickerson ($4,700):Ā Dickerson is only 1-4 in his career against Ivan Nova, but that hit was a two run homer. Dickerson has erupted in the fantasy world, and is a solid DFS option every single day. I like Nova to have a good game, but I also don’t see him pitching a shutout. And, well, steals don’t count against my pitcher!

OF:Ā David PeraltaĀ ($4,500): Did I mention that Wainwright has a 9.48 road ERA and a 8.10 ERA this month? Just checking. I need no other reason to use Peralta or any of his teammates tonight.

OF: Steve Pearce ($3,600):Ā Pearce has slugged 33 homers in only 636 career at bats against left handed pitching. He also hits 19 points higher against lefties. Then there is the fact that he is 5-15 with two homers, three runs scored, and five RBI off of Miley. The Blue Jays may be scuffling some, but facing Miley should cure that.
