DraftKings MLB Picks For June 30

We have a full 15 game slate tonight with plenty of good pitching options out there. Is this a night to fade the aces and go cheap to pay for bats? Let’s see what the stats say!

More from DFS

The money line was pretty steady at 119 DraftKings points last night. My lineup with Clayton Kershaw in it only got points from Utley and Pederson. Mercer, Moreland, and Gimenez got the collar, and Jaime Garcia has a poor game. The other lineup failed because of a Blue Jays stack with J.A. Happ.

The winning lineup was at 218.5. He came up big with Dinelson Lamet along with Kershaw and a full Brewers stack.

These picks are based mostly on statistical analysis . If you have a gut feeling, then by all means, follow that. This is not an exact science. The best lineups usually have a mix of proven stats and hot players. Check out this post from Matt McGarvey for great tips about whether to use a hot player in DFS or not.

DraftKings
Jun 24, 2017; San Francisco, CA, USA; New York Mets starting pitcher Jacob deGrom (48) pitches against the San Francisco Giants during the seventh inning at AT&T Park. Mandatory Credit: Neville E. Guard-USA TODAY Sports /

P: Jacob deGrom ($12,500): The Phillies are only hitting .211 with one homer and three runs in 71 at bats against deGrom. They also have 15 strikeouts! deGrom carries an impressive 2.76 ERA at home, and allowed only two runs in six innings to the Phillies in their first meeting this year. It wouldn’t be off base to expect even better tonight. deGrom has three straight games of 31 DraftKings points. Two of those were against the Cubs and Nationals. He seems to be hitting his stride after a slower start this year.

P: Mike Montgomery ($6,800): The Reds are only hitting .158 against Montgomery in 19 at bats, all in relief. However, Montgomery’s skill set translates pretty well to Great American Ballpark. He is adept at inducing ground balls, which is what he will need to do to be successful tonight. His past history suggests that he should be successful, though he doesn’t strike out enough batters to salvage his game should he not be able to keep the ball on the ground.

C: Yan Gomes ($2,300): Anibal Sanchez has a 6.75 ERA, and was so bad that he was exiled to the bullpen, and AAA, for a spell. He has been solid against the Mariners and Padres since his return to the rotation, but Cleveland has a lot of offensive firepower. They are also hitting .277 off of Sanchez in 177 at bats with 29 runs! Gomes is 7-20 with a walk, a double, a triple, two homers, three runs scored, and eight RBI against Sanchez in his career. I’m hoping that earns him the start here, because Gomes is dirt cheap!

1B: Adam Lind ($3,500): Lind is 5-8 with a walk, a homer, and four RBI in his career against Mike Leake. I am hoping these past stats land him in the lineup tonight. If they don’t, I will shave off $300 somewhere else and take Eric Hosmer. Hosmer is 8-26(.308) with six walks, two doubles, three homers, six runs scored, a steal, and 11 RBI against Ervin Santana.

2B: Ian Kinsler ($3,700): The Cleveland-Detroit game will likely be the highest scoring one out there because of tomato can Anibal Sanchez and extreme fly ball pitcher Josh Tomlin taking the mound. Kinsler is 10-27(.370) with a walk, two doubles, a homer, right runs scored, and three RBI in his career against Tomlin. Stacking Tigers may be a good idea, but I am leaning towards stacking the other side of this one.

3B: Jose Ramirez ($5,100): Ramirez is 3-7 with two walks, a homer, three runs scored, a steal and five RBI in his career against Anibal Sanchez. All this was before Ramirez caught fire this month. He could be in for a big game here tonight.

SS: Francisco Lindor ($4,200): Lindor is 4-11 with a walk, a double, a homer, five runs scored, a steal, and two RBI in his career against Sanchez. He continues to hit in an important spot in a potent order. That should pay off in a big way tonight.

OF: David Peralta ($4,500): Jonathan Gray is making his return from the disabled list. His welcoming party is a team full of big hitters in a hitter’s park. This is the game to stack if you don’t care about pitching. I want at least a little exposure to Gray though, and Peralta seems the safest place to get it. He is hitting .327 with six of his eight homers against right handed pitching this year. Peralta has only faced Gray three times. He has come away with a single and a triple.

OF: Lonnie Chisenhall ($4,000): Chisenhall is 9-26(.346) with a walk, a double, a triple, a steal, four runs scored, and two RBI off of Anibal Sanchez. He may not get a hold of one good enough to knock it into the seats, but Chisenhall continues to have a really nice season. He also has averaged 11.2 DraftKings points per game against the Tigers in five games this year. That shows he hits the bullpen pitchers as well.

OF: Bradley Zimmer ($3,400): Zimmer has never faced the Tigers before, but he should like what he sees. The rookie is hitting .291 with four homers, seven steals, and 22 RBI in 39 games. Considering the success Cleveland has had hitting and running against Sanchez, Zimmer should have a pretty good night for a bargain price.

DraftKings
Jun 28, 2017; Pittsburgh, PA, USA; Tampa Bay Rays third baseman Evan Longoria (3) doubles against the Pittsburgh Pirates during the third inning at PNC Park. Mandatory Credit: Charles LeClaire-USA TODAY Sports /

P: Alex Wood ($11,700): The Padres are only hitting .174 against Wood in 23 at bats. All of the hits are singles, and they have yet to cross the plate against him. Wood has not allowed more than three runs since all the way back on May 2nd, averaging 27.4 DraftKings points per game over that span. Wood has bordered on elite. The Padres will make him look that way once again.

More from FanSided

P: Jacob Faria ($8,300): Faria held the Orioles to five hits in six innings last week. The bad news is that two of those went for home runs. Still, Faria has not had a major league start that has failed to meet the quality start threshold. And facing Chris Tillman is an automatic win. Expect another strong outing from Faria tonight.

C: Wilson Ramos ($3,600): Ramos has returned from the DL with little fanfare. DFS players are a fickle breed, but let’s not forget that Ramos was one of the best power hitting catchers last year, slugging 22 home runs with the Nationals. A start against Chris Tillman means his first of this year shouldn’t be far off.

1B: Kendrys Morales ($3,700): For the second straight day, Morales finds himself in my lineup. He is 7-22(.318) with three doubles, three homers, six runs scored, and five RBI in his career against Doug Fister. Fister had a solid Red Sox debut, but that was against the Trout-less Angels. The Blue Jays will be a tougher test.

2B: Rougned Odor ($3,300): Odor’s horrid start has led to him being underpriced for much of the season. He is mired in yet another slump lately, but he swiped two bags yesterday. He is also 2-6 with a solo homer and two runs scored against Pelfrey. He is a reasonably priced dart throw tonight.

3B: Evan Longoria ($4,600): Chris Tillman in on the mound against the Rays again, which means that Evan Longoria should be in your lineup. He homered off of him again last week, giving Longoria nine home runs against Tillman in his career in just 66 at bats. He also has five walks, four doubles, a triple, 15 runs scored, 14 RBI, and a .303 average. Load up on Longoria again!

SS: Carlos Correa ($4,500): Correa is 6-10 with two walks, two doubles, three homers, five runs scored, and four RBI in his career against Michael Pineda. Pineda has had a very good year, but this may be a place to avoid him. The Astros are hitting .284 against Pineda in 88 at bats with six homers and 15 RBI. Stacking Astros is probably a little too risky, but taking Correa at a bit lower price looks like a no-brainer right now.

OF: Andrew McCutchen ($4,200): Many will see Johnny Cueto as the opposing pitcher and fade all Pirates hitters. That may not be a good idea. They are hitting .274 in 164 at bats against Cueto. McCutchen is definitely worth a look. He is 18-65(.277) with six walks, four doubles, a triple, four homers, nine runs scored, and six RBI in his career against Cueto.

OF: Nomar Mazara ($3,800): Mazara is 2-3 with a double, a homer, two runs scored, and two RBI against Mike Pelfrey in his career. Pelfrey has done pretty well for the White Sox this year, so I am stopping short of a stack here, but any lefty power hitters may be able to get to him. Pelfrey has allowed five home runs in only 28.1 innings at Guaranteed Rate Field this season.

OF: Matt Olson ($2,300): Olson may be starting to figure this thing out. He is 4-19 with three homers and five RBI over the last five games. He could wind up being a steal against Mike Foltynewicz. Foltynewicz has only given up three runs in his last two starts, but he has surrendered 13 homers in 14 starts.
