MLB DFS Value Plays: DraftKings and FanDuel July 18th
MLB DFS Value Plays for DraftKings and FanDuel July 18th
I’ll be looking to uncover the most obvious MLB DFS Value Plays on each slate, and each site. Value plays will generally consist of under-priced players, or players priced differently on a given site. Some values will be in play on both sites, some will only be values on one specific site. Note that value tends to carry higher ownership and may be worth a fade in specific GPP contests.
Tonight’s slate features 15 games, with Colorado (6.3), New York (5.6), Houston (5.5), Baltimore (5.5), and Los Angeles (5.5), holding the best projected team totals. With high-priced players available tonight, finding value will be critical for success. Here are a handful of value plays on both DraftKings and FanDuel.
MLB DFS: DraftKings MLB Values:
Matt Carpenter – STL (1B) – $4000
While the Cardinals don’t have the most imposing team total, first baseman Matt Carpenter, is much cheaper on DraftKings, relative to FanDuel. Carpenter has been hitting the ball well of late and will be in a good matchup against a righty tonight. Carpenter holds a .358 wOBA split and a .223 ISO split against right-handed pitching. In the last 15 days, Carpenter’s distance is up 4 feet, his hard hit percentage is up 6%, and his exit velocity is up 1 MPH.
Jabari Blash – SD (OF) – $3500
Jabari Blash has been raking for the Padres, recording two home runs in his last three games and scoring double-digit DraftKings’ points in three of his last four. Blash will benefit from another game in Coors Field, where the Padres have a projected team total of 5.3 runs. Blash has seen a price increase due to his recent performance, but is worth a look on DraftKings rather than FanDuel.
Miguel Cabrera – DET (1B) – $3700
Miguel Cabrera is extremely discounted on DraftKings tonight and will be in an advantageous position given Detroit’s team total (5.3), and his matchup against a lefty. Cabrera holds a .469 wOBA split and a .252 ISO split against lefties. You can get one of the top power hitters in the game, averaging .061 home runs per at bat, for less than $4000.
MLB DFS: FanDuel MLB Values:
Freddie Freeman – ATL (3B) – $3800
Anytime Freddie Freeman is facing a righty, he should be considered. He’s especially cheap on FanDuel tonight at only $3800.

Freeman holds a drastic splits against righties, with a .489 wOBA and a .387 ISO split. Though he’s slowed down after a blazing hot start to the month of July, he should be in a great spot to rebound tonight.
Stephen Drew – WSH (SS) – $2200
If Stephen Drew is able to draw a spot in the top half of the order, ideally 2nd, he’ll then be one of the best value plays on the slate. Washington falls closer to the middle of the pack tonight, with a projected team total of 4.5 runs, but even without a top 20% team total, Drew is simply too cheap.
Addison Russell – CHC (SS) – $2500
If you have a bit more money to spend, Chicago shortstop, Addison Russell, could also offer value, at only $2500. Russell’s start to the second half has been impressive, as he’s tallied a home run in each of the first two games back from the break. Russell has had his fair share of struggles this year, but will be in a good spot tonight, as the Cubs have a team total of 4.9 runs and Russell will be facing a lefty. Russell fairs much better against left-handed pitching, with a .368 wOBA and a .243 ISO split.
