Fantasy Football Waiver Wire: Week 3
We are already three weeks into the season, and before you know it we will be talking about the getting ready for the playoffs. With Week 2 in the books we are starting to see how things are going to shape out for most of the teams and/or players in question. Typically I like to wait until four weeks into the season to get the best view of things but there are a few situations that it is pretty clear how things are going to turn out. In this article I am going to go through the weekly fantasy football waiver wire adds in order of priority but also I am going to high light a few player who should be used in order to acquire them. Each week from here on out I will continue doing the same thing, some weeks will be clearer than others on who to cut, especially if they are injured but hopefully this helps with the tough decisions. Good luck in Week 3!
Fantasy Football Waiver Wire In order of priority
Javorius Allen (BAL): Take everything I said last week about him taking over the Danny Woodhead role and add the fact that he out snapped, out carried and out produced Terrance West for the second straight week. After Sunday’s game, it is reported that West is dealing with soft tissue injury of some sort which only means more work for Allen. If Allen is some how still available he is the priority add of the week.
Rashard Higgins (CLE): it may sound crazy to add a Browns player but someone has to catch passes. Higgins lead the team in snaps and targets in Week 2 and with the injury to Corey Coleman he is only going to see more targets. Rookie quarterback DeShone Kizer adds the element of running threat which opens up the entire offense, we haven’t quite seen it come together just yet but the Browns have played two tough games. Things should look up soon, very soon in Week 3 against the winless Colts.
Chris Carson (SEA): Carson has fought his way to the top of in doing so he has unseated two big name running backs from only a few years ago in Eddie Lacy and Thomas Rawls. The only problem I see with Carson is the horrific offensive line. The skill position players are still elite and will be able to put up points against just about anyone but they are only going to go as far as the offensive line will take them.
Quarterback Russell Wilson has been running for his life and the other running backs haven’t been able to do much of anything, I am worried the only reason he has been so effective is defenses haven’t caught up to him yet due to him being a rookie. Either case he has been on a hot streak and if he can keep it going he will be the missing element in the Seattle offense that may finally be able to take some pressure about the offensive line.
Samaje Perine (WAS): Perine is the last of the skill position players that I would consider only because of how uncertain his role still is. There is no question he is a talented player, but it is still unclear if he will even start this week. Starter Rob Kelley exited Sunday’s game with a rib injury but the extent of the injury is still unclear. Also we are only one week removed from a game where Perine didn’t receive a touch, so it’s a little hard for me to see him taking over the starting job right away. Perine is still worth an add but it still may be a few weeks before he pays off.
Trevor Siemian (DEN): it is likely that some of you who waited to draft a quarterback may have ended up with either Carson Palmer, Andy Dalton or even Cam Newton. While I think the latter will eventually start to turn things around. The if you own the former two you are in need of a change. Unless you are in a two quarterback or super flex league Siemian should be available and he has been lights out so far this year.
With a new head coach and a new offense the running game has really taken off. This has opened up the offense and kept the defenses guessing allowing Siemian to break out. Last year he was asked to shoulder the load due the injuries the sustained and that’s not his game, this new offense fits him perfectly. There is still a bit of risk because he is somewhat unproven but he is in a better situation and better offense than Palmer and Dalton.
Fantasy Football Waiver Wire Players who are safe to cut bait with
Eddy Lacy (SEA): Lacy was out snapped and out produced by every other running back on the roster in Week 1 and was a healthy scratch in Week 2. Nothing more needs to be said.
Kenny Britt (CLE): Britt showed a lot of promise last year by posting 1,000 yards receiving with some of the leagues worst quarterbacks in Case Keenum and Jared Goff. He earned himself a payday in Cleveland and was supposed to be the focal point of the up and coming offense. Well, through two weeks Britt has two receptions for a grand total of 15 yards. Greater things may be on the horizon for Britt for the same reasons i explained to add Higgins, but I see a connection develop between Higgins and Kizer leaving Britt as the odd man out.

Charcandrick West (KC): West is only going to be unrosterable unless Kareem Hunt goes down with injury. Coach Andy Reid has a history of using one work horse running back as opposed to a few backs with defined roles as we have become accustomed to. The only situation West is rosterable is if you own Hunt and alphabet a very deep bench, other than that he is wasting a roster spot.
LeGarrette Blount (PHI): for only the second time in his career Blount failed to get a carry in a game he was healthy in. There is no way to predict the touches in Philadelphia, and Blount’s value as the goal line back from last year is gone. The Eagles back to own is not Blount even in standard leagues.
Carson Palmer (ARI): Palmer has had two match-ups in the first two weeks that were as good as you can get aside from playing the Saints. The results have been disappointing at best, and don’t appear to be getting better anytime soon. The Cardinals have been decimated by injuries since the preseason to include their star player David Johnson. The Cardinals offense is forced to take a new identity which the healthy remaining talent isn’t suited for.
