The Kansas City Chiefs won’t have a ton of cap space, but these five names would be helpful to to keep them in contention.

Once again, the Kansas City Chiefs remain a contender. The AFC playoff picture will always start with them since they are the top team in conference. Is it because of Patrick Mahomes? Perhaps.

It’s also due to the talent that remains on the roster. This offseason though. Brett Veach is going to have to make some tough cuts to free up over $18 million in cap space for the 2021 season. It’s safe to say that now comes time for the budget contracts over the lucrative deals.

The Chiefs will still be the front-runners for the AFC West title. The conference title remains to be seen, albeit it’s hard to imagine them not still controlling their destiny. At the end of the day, these signings should help both the production on the field and the salary cap remain fluxed in Kansas City’s favor.

Five free agents the Chiefs should sign this offseason

Scouting Report. Breshad Perriman . player. 30. Pick Analysis. WR. New York Jets. 5.

Sammy Watkins’ time will be up in the Kingdom following the 2020 season. A three-year deal was met with mixed results since he never tallied more than 673 yards in a single season.

Will Mecole Hardman be a true No.2 receiver? He’ll have to be as DeMarcus Robinson is a free agent and Byron Pringle might not have his exclusive rights option picked up. Kansas City won’t be able to pay for a big name on the market. Instead, they need veteran help and reliability.

Perriman fits the criteria for veteran and minimal contract. He’s coming off a prove-it deal with the Jets after having a breakout 645-yard season with Tampa Bay. Although he finished with over 500 yards on the year, his touchdown production was diminished by half.

The 27-year-old could be willing to play on another one-year deal, but only for a contender. A quality No.4 option, this should be at least on the radar for Veach to sign for the right price.
