We now know a little bit more about how big of a factor Sammy Watkins will be in Super Bowl 55 on Sunday.

As they prepare for their second Super Bowl in as many years, the Kansas City Chiefs would certainly like to have their roster at full strength. Eric Fisher was lost in the AFC Championship Game and already two players have been placed on the COVID-19 reserve list after close contact this week.

The health issues don’t end there. Wide receiver Sammy Watkins addressed the media today ahead of Super Bowl 55 and gave an update on his leg injury that has had him sidelined for the past few weeks.

Watkins has played in 10 games this season for Kansas City but hasn’t seen the field since late December of 2020 because of the nagging injury. It seems like his treatment has gone well though and we have reason to believe that he’ll be out there in the big game. Patrick Mahomes should have all of his weapons available in his duel with the last quarterback to repeat Super Bowl championships in Tom Brady.

Other Kansas City Chiefs injury updates

The Chiefs did have to place two players on COVID-19 protocol. Chiefs center Daniel Kilgore and wide receiver Demarcus Robinson placed on reserve/COVID-19 list Monday.

Cornerback L’Jarius Sneed also had a solid injury update this week on the other side of the ball for Kansas City. Watkins and Snead’s injury reports ought to help Chiefs fans get over the fact that they will be without linebacker Willie Gay on Sunday.
