It seems like stating the obvious at this point but we shouldn’t expect a reunion this summer out west between former Boston Celtics head coach Doc Rivers and former Boston Celtics star Paul Pierce. After the racist comments from Clippers owner Donald Sterling rocked the NBA this weekend, the list of players that have said they won’t be playing for Sterling is growing and the likelihood that Los Angeles is a free agent destination has grown incredibly unlikely.

Stefan Bondy from the New York Daily News states that Clippers don’t have the money to sign Pierce but the fallout from the Sterling comments means the reunion would have been unlikely to happen byways.

The Clippers have bigger fish to fry though, like dealing with the possibility of losing everyone if Donald Sterling remains in control of the team. While they may has lost out on Pierce and other free agents, the team needs to worry about losing pieces they have as Rivers is unsure of his future after the comments and it’s easy to see that everyone from Chris Paul to J.J. Redick are similarly disgusted.
