Julian Edelman’s finger is not okay

The New England Patriots rely on Julian Edelman quite a bit in their offense. The talented wide receiver serves as somewhat of their safety blanket and one of their most reliable threats in the passing game. He’s arguably the perfect guy for Tom Brady in the Pats’ offense, assuming all 10 of his fingers are in working order. That is not the case on Sunday Night Football against the Indianapolis Colts.

Edelman suffered some sort of finger injury making a play in the first quarter of action. You might be thinking that a finger injury is nothing major and that it shouldn’t affect Edelman. Allow me to show you what his pinky finger looks like right now:

Despite not having any medical experience, I’m confident in saying that your pinky finger shouldn’t be pointing to the side at that angle while the rest of your fingers are pointing up. That’s not how hands and fingers are supposed to work.

The crazy part is that Edelman hasn’t come out of the game after suffering that injury. It’s led to him making a couple of drops and missing catches, including one that led to a pick-six, though. Still, you have to admire his toughness for trying to play through an injury that looks more than appropriate for the approaching Halloween festivities.
