It’s too bad Tim Tebow’s days with the Jets are over the Jets are looking for their back-up to start with Sanchez injured. The Jets would like Geno Smith to start until Sanchez is fully healthy again after suffering a shoulder injury. It’s looking like Sanchez will need a few more weeks to fully heal his shoulder and that’s just fine with the Jets.

This will give the Jets an opportunity to start Geno Smith and see what the kid can do and if he plays well, it may be awhile before Sanchez is 100%. This is the “break” the Jets have been looking for to get Sanchez off the field. Rex Ryan has preferred to run with Sanchez, but now that he’s hurt this is the perfect opportunity to run with someone else this season.

Smith got off to a rocky start during the pre-season but he’s people need to remember he’s just a rookie. He made rookie mistakes in first pre-season games, it’s going to happen. Was it any worse than butt-fumble?

While Sanchez remains day-to-day this is Smith’s chance to prove he can be a starting quarterback in the NFL as he will make his first start in game 1, September 8th.
