The Denver Broncos have decided to start running back Ronnie Hillman over Montee Ball and Knowshon Moreno. Montee Ball was listed as the number 2 running back on the depth chart with Knowshon Moreno listed as the third option.

“I would say that the group as a whole is about as good a group as you want,” Offensive Coordinator Adam Gase said of the running backs last Tuesday, via  denverbroncos.com. “We’ve pretty much said, ‘Hey, this is going to be a by committee-type backfield.’ We’ve never shied away from that and right now those three guys (Hillman, Ball and Moreno) have done a good job of handling the workload.”

There were reports that the Broncos were considering keeping as many as 5 running backs on their roster for the 2013 season, they did actually keep 5. Jacob Hester and C.J. Anderson are listed together at the number 4 spot of the depth chart.

While Hillman will be the primary back for the Broncos you can expect Ball to get the majority of the carries in goal-line situations with Moreno coming on in obvious passing downs.
