The Carolina Panthers are playing great football this season on both sides of the ball especially on defense. The defense helped secure a playoff berth and a possible two seed.

On Sunday, the Carolina Panthers defeated the New Orleans Saints 17-13 and even though everybody will remember what quarterback Cam Newton did on the last drive against the Saints, on the defensive side linebacker Luke Kuechly had a historic day.

The linebacker out of Boston College had 24 tackles and one interception. With that kind of stat line, Kuechly was given NFC Defensive Player for Week 16.

He deserves it and not many players actually have accomplished this kind of feat. Matter of fact, according to PFT, he and Derrick Brooks are the only players to have 20 tackles and an interception in a game.

The Carolina Panthers are now 11-4 on the season and can win the NFC South next week with a win next week over the Atlanta Falcons.
