Daily Fantasy Baseball: Top Plays for Friday, April 4th

Daily Fantasy Baseball is certainly not a ‘can of corn’. Never fear though, the Doctor’s here to cover all the bases for you. Each day, I’ll put the ducks on the pond for you by presenting you with “The Natural” plays at each position, as well as a few “Savoy Specials” for good measure. Tampa Bay Rays’ 3B Evan Longoria steps up as today’s top play.

Pitcher: Mike Leake, CIN ($5,100): There are not a lot of great pitching options, so we’re basically looking for the win, with the ability to produce a few Ks and keep the runs down at a decent price. I think Leake provides us with that this evening at just $5,100, making him a decent cash game play. For starters, he’s pitching on the road at Citi Field, a notorious pitchers park and a place where he shut the Mets out last season. Additionally, Leake performed well overall on the road, posting a sub 3.00 ERA over 16 starts. To be fair, his K/9 rates is rather pedestrian at less than six, so it’s unlikely that he gives you a lot of points via the strikeout.
Also consider, Dan Straily, OAK ($5,900) for your cash games and Masahiro Tanaka, NYY ($7,400) as a tourney play.
Savoy Special: Jenrry Mejia, NYM ($4,800)
Catcher: John Jaso, OAK ($2,700): This evening’s top play at catcher is also a “Savoy Special”. Jaso will face right hander, Chris Young. Over his career, Jaso holds a .272 BA vs. RHP and more importantly, a impressive .353 wOBA and .376 OBP. Additionally, he sports a .792 OPS, which bodes well when facing a pitcher who has given up a .750 OPS to LHB over the last three seasons
Also consider, Brian McCann, NYY ($3,600)
First Base: Brandon Moss, OAK ($3,200): Moss will be batting cleanup for the Athletics tonight, and faces the aforementioned, Chris Young, who struggles vs. LHBs. Conversely, Moss sports a .350 wOBA and an OPS over .800 vs. RHP for his career.
Savoy Special: James Loney, TAM ($2,200)
Second Base: Robinson Cano, SEA ($4,300): Cano has amazing numbers vs. RHP over his career, including a .319 BA, and a OPS of nearly .900. That level of production makes him the top 2B play when he faces Dan Straily tonight.
Savoy Specials: None
Third Base: Evan Longoria, TAM ($4,200): Longoria crushes LHP, and the man he’ll face tonight is one of the worst in the game. Don’t get cute, play Longoria.
Savoy Special: EVAN LONGORIA !!!!
Shortstop: Brad Miller, SEA ($3,300): Miller has been hot for longer than the regular season has been going on. His price is still fair, and as long as it remains so, he’ll be the top play at SS.
Savoy Specials: Adeiny Hechavarria, MIA ($2,500)
Outfielder:
Top Tier: Giancarlo Stanton, MIA ($4,600), Jacoby Ellsbury, NYY ($4,300), Shin-Soo Choo, TEX ($4,000)
Middle Tier: Desmond Jennings, TAM ($3,800), Wil Myers, TAM ($3,800)
Savoy Specials: Kole Calhoun, LAA ($2,900), Alex Presley, HOU ($2,600), Seth Smith, SD ($3,100)
