This is pretty much the nightmare of every fat, slow baseball player. You hit a grounder through the right side and some right fielder with a big arm gets to it fast, picks it cleanly and nails you at first.

It happened to Billy Butler Thursday night and, dang I feel sorry for him. Jose Bautista, you are one cold-blooded individual.

As you can see by the video replay, it wasn’t even close. Bautista had Butler by a good step.

Butler must have felt like he was living inside a bad dream. Nope. It was real. It happened to you dude. You are so slow, the rightfielder threw you out at first on a grounder.

I know what Billy Butler is thinking right this second. He’s thinking, “Do I really need a second Danish?” The answer, Billy, is no. You do not need that second Danish. It’s time to hit the stairmaster bud. It’s time to lose those extra pounds.

Meanwhile, that’s about how it’s going for the Royals. Even when they get a hit, they don’t get a hit. We know they have no home run power, but now they can’t even get a baserunner on an apparent clean single. Things have gone very wrong there.
