Throughout the day on Thursday, the Cleveland Cavaliers have been on the phones seeing if they could find a deal sweet enough to trade out of the no. 1 overall spot, now that Joel Embiid is not healthy enough to spend that pick on. One of the teams that seemed close to striking a deal with the Cavs on Thursday was the Philadelphia 76ers, although the deal has since been called dead.

Well, according to NJ.com’s Eliott Shorr-Parks, with just minutes to go until the event is set to get kicked off, the deal is not dead just yet.
Two league sources told me that the #Sixers and #Cavaliers are still discussing a deal for the No. 1 pick. "Still could happen"

Of course, with the craziness that surrounds the draft this year, this is not all that surprising, although it’s going to be interesting to see what the 76ers are going to give up, and how much more it will be than it would have originally been this afternoon.
Within these trade talks has been the word that the 76ers really have an interest in getting up to the top spot to select one man and one man only: Andrew Wigggins. They seem enamored with bringing that young man to the City of Brotherly Love, and it appears they could still make that happen.
