After reportedly turning down max offers from several clubs, including the Los Angeles Lakers and Houston Rockets, Dallas Mavericks forward Dirk Nowitzki couldn’t be held in higher regard by Mavs fans.

The details of his three-year, $25 million contract extension were recently reported by ESPN Dallas.

"2014-15 salary: $7,974,4822015-16 salary: $8,333,3342016-17 salary: $8,692,184"

Nowitzki, 36, averaged 21.7 points per game last season for the Mavericks, his highest scoring output since the 2010-11 season. He added 2.7 assists and 6.2 rebounds, as well, appearing in 80 games – his most since the 2009-10 season.

A CBS Sports report that was written shortly after the details of the deal were announced broke down just where Nowitzki ranks in terms of franchise history:

"Dirk is the franchise’s all-time leader in games, minutes played, field goals made, field goals attempted, 3-pointers made and attempted, free throws made and attempted, offensive and defensive rebounds, and points scored. He’s second in career steals and fourth in assists. He’s the biggest star in franchise history, but he’s not done contributing yet. While those other teams tried to pounce with big money, Nowitzki didn’t waver on sticking it out with the only team he’s played for in the NBA."

Loyalty cannot be bought. At least not in the case of Dirk.
