NFL: 5 surprising performances from Sunday

2. Knowshon Moreno, Miami Dolphins
The Miami Dolphins were able to come away with a big win over their division rival New England Patriots yesterday, and the play of running back Knowshon Moreno was one of the main reasons why they got the job done. Miami hasn’t had the type of running game that they displayed for quite some time, and paying to bring Moreno into town worked out well in Week 1. He still has to find a way to play that type of football all season long, but he truly did carry the Dolphins’ offense.
Moreno ended up carrying the football 24 times for 134 yards and a touchdown, and was a leader for the young Dolphins team. He is coming off of a great season last year with the Denver Broncos, and obviously brought experience and leadership to the offense. Ryan Tannehill is going to have a much easier job with Moreno in town than he has had in his previous two seasons with the Dolphins.
Don’t be surprised to see Moreno keep playing at this level, as he proved that he could do it last year. Many thought that his success in 2013-14 was due to having Peyton Manning as the quarterback of his team, but that simply wasn’t the case. He is very quick and has the necessary speed to turn the corner when he needs to.
