NFL: The most disappointing players through Week 2
By Pete Schauer
Victor Cruz, WR, New York Giants
I’ll be blunt and say that the New York Giants as a team have been horrific, but surprisingly, Victor Cruz has been partly to blame.
Cruz saw six targets in Week 1 against the Detroit Lions but only caught two balls for 24 yards. Cruz, a captain of the G-Men, needed to be more assertive against the Detroit defense–a defense that held New York to 14 points and forced two Eli Manning interceptions.
But the story is really Cruz’s Week 2 performance against the Arizona Cardinals. If we were discussing the first three quarters, we wouldn’t even be having this conversation, but Cruz dropped two easy passes in the fourth quarter, one of which came on third down in a crucial play for the game, and potentially the season for the Giants.
We all know Cruz for his sure hands and big play ability, but we haven’t seen that yet this season, and it’s disappointing for more than just fans of Big Blue.
