The Minnesota Vikings have had about as bad of luck as anyone in the National Football League this season, and unfortunately, this season only sits at week 4. Following the loss of Adrian Peterson due to his child abuse case, the Vikings have now also lost Matt Cassel and Brandon Fusco for the year after placing them on season ending IR.

While the placement of Cassel on IR signifies that it’s Teddy Bridgewater time in Minnesota, Brandon Fusco heading to IR could be the bigger news for the Minnesota Vikings.

As of the first three weeks in the season, Matt Kalil has graded out as one of the worst left tackles in football. The Vikings line has struggled, and after signing Fusco to a new contract, the guard had been a bright spot in the early going. For a running game without Adrian Peterson and a rookie quarterback in Bridgewater, the Fusco loss is concerning news.

Today, the Vikings also announced the signing of both Austin Wentworth and Chase Ford to the 53 man roster. Wentworth will provide depth behind Vladimir Ducasse at right guard. Chase Ford was brought in to fill the spot vacated by the loss of Kyle Rudolph.

A sneaky player going forward for the Vikings, Ford and Teddy Bridgewater had a pretty strong connection in the preseason, and the rookie out of Louisville has shown a strong check down ability to his tight ends.

Look for the Vikings to try to get things rolling quickly as they take on the Atlanta Falcons on Sunday in the afternoon slate of games, from TCF Bank Stadium.
