Despite reports earlier this afternoon suggesting that a 90 minute workout would decide Bridgewater’s fate, it now looks like the young Vikings quarterback has already had his fate sealed.
According to Ian Rapoport, Teddy Bridgewater will be inactive for the Vikings tonight:
The #Vikings will start QB Christian Ponder tonight vs #Packers, source says. Teddy Bridgewater will be inactive
— Ian Rapoport (@RapSheet) October 2, 2014
Earlier this afternoon, the Vikings activated Chandler Harnish from their practice squad as insurance should Bridgewater not be able to go. The Vikings have stood by the fact that Bridgewater would not be a backup, and if he wasn’t going to go, he would be inactive.
This now seems to coincide with Rapoport’s recent tweet.
For the Vikings, Christian Ponder will now make the start, and it will be on the former 12th overall pick to lead the Vikings to victory. In his last game at Lambeau Field, Ponder played to a tie with the Packers posting a 26-26 score.
Look for Minnesota to rely heavily on the run game tonight as the field conditions are set to be sloppy.
Kickoff is set for 7:30 pm central time.
