The NFL trade deadline usually passes without much action, but in this scenario we would see a flurry of activity with teams wheeling and dealing in these five NFL trades that should happen in 2014.

The NFL has replaced baseball as America’s pastime in recent years for a number with television ratings serving as one proof of evidence that the NFL is king, but the NFL still trails MLB when it comes to trade rumors and activity leading up to and including on trade deadline day.

Trades just don’t happen in the NFL like they do in comparison to the NBA, MLB or NHL. We do see a number of trades for draft picks during the NFL draft as teams move up and down the draft, but rarely do we see player for player deals in the NFL for a variety of reasons.

Andrew Brandt wrote about why the NFL trade deadline is anticlimactic and always will be in a column on MMQB.com last October after the trade deadline came and went without much of a whimper.

I want to change that.

For the NFL fans who play fantasy football, proposing trades, negotiating with fellow owners and executing trades is as fun as the actual matchups during fantasy season. If you’re a fan of the Madden video game franchise you know you’re wheeling and dealing to acquire your favorite NFL players and stockpiling draft picks to be the big winner in the draft, so why can’t we have that in real life?

Here are five trades I think should happen in 2014 by the Oct. 28 trade deadline

Without further ado, here are five NFL trades that should happen this season.
