Golden State Warriors’ guard Klay Thompson has been one of the most talked about players in the

NBA

over the last few months. First, he was at the center of the Kevin Love trade rumors. Now, he and the Warriors have until October 31 to work out an extension or Klay Thompson will become a restricted free agent in 2015.

Marc Stein of ESPN.com reports Klay Thompson could opt to sign a three-year deal, much like the one Chandler Parsons signed with the Dallas Mavericks this year.

"Worse yet for Golden State: One real option, I’m told, is Thompson pursuing an offer sheet from a new team modeled after the loaded three-year contract structure Chandler Parsons scored from Dallas this past summer.Which is to say that Thompson, were he to pull a Parsons and sign a three-year deal with a player option to return to free agency in Year 2, would be setting himself up to hit the open market as an unrestricted free agent in 2017 … at the exact same time as Splash Brothers sidekick Steph Curry."

Not only could the two ask for huge new contracts together but it would come after the new television deal kicked in, meaning both players could get even more money. Stability is fantastic but it could benefit Klay Thompson to go the Chandler Parsons route.

Klay Thompson averaged 18.4 points, 3.1 rebounds and 2.2 assists per game while shooting 44.4% from the field, 41.7% from beyond the arc and 79.5% from the charity stripe. In his three-year career, Klay Thompson has gone for 16.0 points, 3.1 rebounds and 2.2 assists per game while shooting 43.5% from the floor, 41.0% from three and 82.7% from the charity stripe.
