The Kirk Cousins era may already be over in Washington as Colt McCoy has been named the starter by Jay Gruden for this week’s game against the Dallas Cowboys

Colt McCoy relieved Kirk Cousins in the second half and rallied Washington to a win against the Tennessee Titans on Sunday and now he’s earned a start as Robert Griffin III continues to work his way back to the starting lineup from his ankle injury.

McCoy completed 11-of-12 passes for 128 yards and a 70-yard touchdown pass to Pierre Garcon on their second play of the second half to take a 13-10 lead over the Titans en route to leading the team’s second half comeback to pick up the team’s second win of the season.

Cousins has been prone to turnovers in his time as the starter since he replaced Griffin who has been out since Week 2 with an ankle injury and finished with 10-of-16 passing for 139 yards with a touchdown and an interception. Cousins had two drives in the first half stall for Kai Forbath field goals.

With RG3 nearing a return from his ankle injury this may be the only start McCoy has for Washington this year and may be the last time he starts in the NFL, so look for him to make the most of his opportunity against the 6-1 Cowboys and try to knock off the first place team in NFC East.
