Chicago Bears defensive end Lamarr Houston injured himself celebrating a sack, and now the team fears the worst, per ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

The social media stratosphere exploded when Lamarr Houston injured himself celebrating a sack as his Chicago Bears trailed the New England Patriots by 25 points. The extent of the injury remains unknown, pending an MRI, but ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports that the team ‘fears the worst’ per his official Twitter account.

That’s just what the Bears don’t need after their defense was badly exposed by Tom Brady and company. Houston and the Bears front may have tallied three sacks on Brady, but the defense as a whole allowed him to go 33-for-38 for 354 yards and a whopping five touchdown passes en route to a 51-23 beating that wasn’t even that close most of the way.

At this point, the Bears are giving up more than 370 yards per game, which puts them in the bottom half of the league, so losing Houston would be a major blow to an AFC North contender that’s quickly fading as the Detroit Lions and Green Bay Packers continue to rise above Chicago.

We’ll know more when the MRI results come in, but for now expect the Bears to remain mum not only on Houston’s injury but on any supplemental discipline for Houston’s unnecessary celebration at a bad time that led to this mess in the first place.
