Former MLB slugger Jose Canseco captivated fans and bored twitter users with his recent stories of shooting off part of his finger in an accident and then later losing the re-attached finger at a poker tournament, but it was all a hoax.

Jose Canseco is a weird, weird dude. And apparently, is terrible at practical jokes.

Canseco claimed to have lost part of his finger while cleaning a gun last month, and then had the finger re-attached, then supposedly lost the finger again during a poker tournament. Hilarious, right? Except apparently Canseco made the whole damn thing up.

Canseco doing crazy things or saying dumb statements isn’t anything new, as the former Bash Brother has had a weird life and a history of saying downright bizarre things.

Apparently he saw the finger at a Halloween store and just had to pull the prank. Sweet.

Actually, the funniest part here isn’t Canseco’s prank at all, it’s just how willing media members and the public were to believe Canseco’s story (as noted before, he’s a weird dude). Nevermind, y’know, following up and confirming a story, screw that nonsense. Jose Canseco said it!

That dude wrote Vindicated! He apparently had a three-way with Jim Carrey! Jose Canseco, man!

Sweet prank, Jose.
