Detroit Lions center Dominic Raiola is likely going to face a sizeable fine, after what appeared to be an intentional stomp on a Chicago Bears defender.

Dominic Raiola has a reputation for being a dirty player and his actions in Week 16 will not help his cause.

In the second half of the Lions’ meeting with the Chicago Bears, Raiola stomped on the leg of Bears defensive lineman Ego Ferguson. The stomp certainly appeared to be intentional.

He is lucky to still be in the game.

Watch video of the blatant cheap shot below.

This is the kind of cheap shot that could result in a significant fine and possible suspension.

When Detroit Lions defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh stomped on an opponent back on Thanksgiving Day in 2011, he was suspended two games without pay. With the Lions already in the postseason, a two-game suspension could prove to be a costly one but it would definitely be justified.

There is no way to defend Raiola’s actions — and his reputation won’t help.

If Raiola is able to avoid a suspension, it would be shocking if he did not receive a letter in the mail from the NFL office with a hefty fine.

The Lions are currently trailing the Chicago Bears, 14-10.
