Seattle Seahawks defensive backs Richard Sherman and Earl Thomas will reportedly each get an MRI to address injury concerns in advance of the Super Bowl.

It may not really matter what the tests read, but the Seattle Seahawks are running them anyways. Two major components of the Legion of Boom will get MRIs on Monday to address injury issues that popped up in the team’s comeback victory over the Green Bay Packers. Richard Sherman and Earl Thomas each made it clear though that they will be in the lineup for the team’s title defense.

“We got tape for the warriors,” Sherman said per ESPN. “I guarantee you in our next game, we will all be out there.”

Sherman injured his left elbow when it got caught between hard-hitting safety Kam Chancellor and Packers running back James Starks. He winced and doubled over the arm after the play, but he never left the field. Much to Sherman’s relief, Aaron Rodgers declined to test out that injured arm.

As the piece notes, “Sherman said he didn’t know if he would have been able to raise his left hand to stop a high pass with an elbow injury.”

Earl Thomas was equally confident in his own ability to play in the Super Bowl as well as his own fortitude as a warrior of the gridiron.

“I know who I am, I’m a warrior, bro,” Thomas said. “If I can play I don’t care if I can’t function really well. I know if I can help the team I’m going to be in there.”

Can we get a t-shirt that reads ‘I’m a warrior, bro’? Has a Seahawks fan already done this? Let’s assume yes and buy one already.

Earl Thomas left the game briefly in the first half with a shoulder injury. The shoulder was put in a harness and Thomas returned to finish the game because that’s what Earl Thomas does. As he put it, “I’m a man, man.”

The Seahawks will need every bit of that manliness as they face the New England Patriots and their potent offense in the Super Bowl at University of Phoenix Stadium in Arizona.

The Seahawks won the last matchup between these two teams, which concluded with Richard Sherman infamously shouting, “You mad, bro?” at Tom Brady, who had reportedly made a ‘scoreboard’ taunt to Sherman in the middle of the game.

It’s safe to say everyone involved is going to be fired up and ready to go, even if they have to do so in arm slings.
