Midseason NBA Player Rankings: Steph Curry vs. James Harden
By Bryce Olin
14. Klay Thompson
21.7 PPG, 3.0 APG, 3.6 RPG, 21.4 PER
Is there another player more improved than Klay Thompson in the NBA this season? If so, I don’t see one.
Over a two-year stretch, Thompson has gone from pretty good rotation player to the best two-way shooting guard in the league. It’s a remarkable turnaround that started with Team USA basketball. Add Thompson to the list of players that played for Coach K over the summer and came back to have a career year in the NBA.
Thompson and Steph Curry form the perfect tandem in the backcourt, but it’s not even just that with the Warriors. There are so many other pieces that make the Warriors tick that it’s not even fair to the rest of the league.
While Thompson has been great all season, in the last couple weeks, he’s truly emerged as a difference-making force for Golden State. In his last five games, Thompson is averaging 25.4 points on 52 percent shooting and 42 percent from 3-point range.
How is anyone suppose to guard the Warriors when Thompson is that hot from the field?
It’s not even fair, man.
Klay Thompson better be voted into the All-Star game. If he doesn’t get in, I’m boycotting the All-Star game, especially that god-awful dunk contest.
Next: Kyrie Irving
