White House press secretary Josh Earnest took a hilarious shot at Tom Brady for the New England Patriots quarterback’s uncomfortable press conference Thursday.

Tom Brady’s Thursday press conference, in which he addressed the DeflateGate scandal that has consumed NFL fans everywhere, did not exactly go well.

Brady strongly denied having any involvement in the deflating of footballs prior to or during New England’s AFC Championship game against the Indianapolis Colts last Sunday, but he appeared nervous while doing so and few believed him to be telling the truth.

The press conference was such a disaster that even the White House is now taking shots at Brady for it.

On Friday, White House press secretary Josh Earnest trolled Brady.

From CBS News:

"“For years it’s been clear that there is no risk that I was going to take Tom Brady’s job as quarterback of the New England Patriots,” Earnest told reporters during his daily press briefing on Friday. “But I can tell you, as of today, it’s pretty clear that there’s no risk of him taking my job either.”Earnest was responding to a question about how President Obama views the scandal, which hasthrown the league into turmoil and called into question the Patriots’ victory over the Indianapolis Colts, just as the team prepares for a run at the Super Bowl.Mr. Obama’s spokesman said he has not heard the president’s personal reaction to the scandal."

Not only is this burn funny on the surface, it’s also hilarious in showing just how big the DeflateGate scandal has gotten. I mean, the idea of media members trying to figure out what the President’s thoughts are on a scandal involving deflated footballs is just tremendous.

However, Brady and the Patriots are unlikely to be laughing about Earnest’s joke. The NFL is conducting a thorough investigation into the Patriots’ under-inflated balls and it seems likely that they will ultimately face a hefty punishment for this.

The Pats will take on the Seattle Seahawks next Sunday in Super Bowl XLIX next Sunday in Glendale, Arizona. New England defeated the Colts 45-7 last Sunday in a game that will forever be remembered for deflated footballs.
