According to a new report, Adrian Peterson has requested a trade to the Dallas Cowboys

If we’ve learned one thing this week it’s the fact that running back Adrian Peterson would rather not head back to play for the Minnesota Vikings this year. Although the team is apparently trying to mend the fences in the relationship, Peterson just wants to get a fresh start after his near one season off.

During the time that Peterson was off from the NFL there were a lot of people that pondered the possibility of the star running back playing for the Dallas Cowboys, and apparently this was something that was running through the mind of Peterson as well.

The thought was so ingrained his his mind, apparently, that he recently requested that he be shipped off there to play.

According to a report from Bleacher Report, Peterson has requested a trade to the Dallas Cowboys before the season begins. However, much like he has no desire to return to Minnesota, the team has no interest in obliging this trade request to the Big D.

Given all that has happened throughout the course of the past year, you can certainly see where the relationship could be strained. While expressing his disinterest in returning to the Vikings, Peterson noted that the team wasn’t there for him when he needed them most.

“There were people (in the organization) that I trusted, who knew exactly what was said, that weren’t heard from,” Peterson said on ESPN. “It’s hard to say (what my future will be).

“I’m still uneasy, to be honest with you,” he added. “I’m still uneasy about a lot of things that took place within the organization. Of course those guys ultimately supported me, and I’m grateful for that. But ultimately, with me being able to be on the inside and see how cards were dealt, how things were worded, this, that and the other, it’s about protecting your brand, your organization, what you have built. In the (grand) scheme of things, not one person counts over that. I get that.”

Peterson is under contract with the Vikings for 2015 and he remains on the commissioner’s exempt list until April.
