The Champions League quarterfinal draw results are in and they feature a much-anticipated rematch from last year’s tournament.

Spain is going to sport some scorched earth come April when the Champions League returns to action. The draw results for the quarterfinals are in and rivals Atletico Madrid and Real Madrid will face each other in the first leg on April 14th before finishing their business eight days later.

Sky Sports notes, “Real thrashed their rivals 4-1 after extra time at the Estadio de Luz last May, with goals from Sergio Ramos, Gareth Bale, Marcelo and Cristiano Ronaldo.”

However, all has not been rosy for Real since that match. “But they have failed to beat Atletico in all six fixtures since, losing in the Spanish Super Cup, Copa Del Rey and both La Liga clashes, including a 4-0 thrashing last time out.”

Other draws include Juventus facing Monaco, the first leg of which will be played on April 14. The day after, Bayern Munich will face Porto in the first leg while Paris Saint-Germain takes on Barcelona on the same day in their respective first leg.

Bayern and Barcelona will likely stand as favorites in their respective matches, but if the year continues as it has, anything seems possible. After all, it was hard to believe Real would struggle as they have despite a star-studded lineup.

Those two matches will re-commence for the second leg on April 21 while the Juventus-Monaco and Atletico-Real Madrid matches will see their second leg play out on the day after.

With a month until the quarterfinals, each team will have plenty of time to prepare for the other in what should be another thrilling Champions League.
