Umpire hit in groin by foul ball, leaves on stretcher (Video)

An umpire needed to be carried off the field in a stretcher after a foul ball hit him below the belt. 

A very unfortunate home plate empire was hit in the groin by a foul ball in a recent Korean Baseball Organization game. The incident occurred in the third inning of a game between the Lotte Giants and SK Wyverns.

The foul ball was tipped off a wild swing and missed the catcher’s glove by inches before making full contact with the ump’s nether-regions. The ump immediately fell to the ground and needed to be carried off the field in a stretcher.

The shot is very painful to watch. Probably because it is probably the most pain that guy has ever encountered in his life. This isn’t an

groin shot where a grown man puts all his power into a swing that rockets a baseball into another man’s manhood. The batter puts so much power behind it that he loses his balance.

Anyone who sees the clip will probably wince and uneasily close their legs. It just looks so painful. Hopefully he was wearing some type of protection but judging by the video he most likely wasn’t.

But then again what umpire plans for that kind of a hit? We couldn’t find any update on the ump’s health but hopefully he will make a speedy recovery and be back on the field soon.
