Barcelona’s front three have been tearing up the European scene this season, but are they the best front trio that the Spanish giants have ever had?

FC Barcelona are seemingly back to their high flying best, and that’s nearly all thanks to the outstanding front three who have been in sublime form. Lionel Messi, Luis Suarez and Neymar have all been terrifying for opposition defenders, which has been an absolute pleasure for soccer fans to watch.

It truly has been a pleasure to watch the exciting trio tear defenses apart all season, and you genuinely look forward to Barcelona’s games because you know that one of the three are likely to get on the score sheet.

But are they the best front three that that the Spanish giants have ever had?

To answer my own question, yes. The current front line at Barcelona is the best that the Catalan have ever had the privilege of playing week in and week out. That’s incredible when you consider the amazing players that Barcelona have had at their disposal.

The above chart is for goals scored in all competitions, and it’s not a shock that Lionel Messi features in each of the top four front trios the current La Liga have ever had. After all, Lionel Messi is one of the best if not the best soccer player of all times.

Messi, Neymar and Suarez are currently on 112 goals, which is 12 more than any other front trio in the history of the club. The scarier thing is that this season isn’t even over, they could/will go and grab who knows how many more in the few remaining games of the season.

Another interesting thing to take in to consideration is the fact Luis Suarez was suspended for the first few months of the season. In addition, this was his first season with a brand new team and as such took him a short time to blend in and get his rhythm going. This begs the question, how good will this trio be next season?

Messi, Thierry Henry, Samuel Eto’o scored 100 goals and Messi, Alexis Sanchez, Pedro also scored 100 goals. However, the latter trio only borke the 100 mark because Lionel Messi broke every record known to man by grabbing a personal best of 73 goals in one season.

Barcelona have always had incredible attackers at their disposal, and to think that their current crop is the best of the lot really makes you appreciate the greatness that we are lucky enough to witness. Their link up play and individual brilliance combined makes it a privilege for us fans to sit down and watch.
