Steph Curry photoshopped on rap album cover takes over Twitter
Steph Curry has it all; an iconic 3-point shot, the NBA’s MVP award, and he is the leader of arguably best team in the league. He can now add rap album to that list.
Okay, so Steph Curry may not have his own rap album, but legendary rapper Nas felt that Curry did deserve to be honored by the rap community. He posted this picture on Instagram, in which the Golden State Warriors point guard is photoshopped onto his debut album, Illmatic.
Fittingly, the album is renamed Automatic, a reference to Curry’s deadeye 3-point shooting. The rap album portrayal of Curry is much kinder than what the artist behind the image, Jesse Nuñez, had done for two other NBA stars.
The less fortunate players were Carmelo Anthony and Kobe Bryant, who Nuñez could not resist taking jabs at. The result was nothing short of hilarious.
Here is Anthony gracing the cover of 50 Cent’s Get Rich or Die Trying album:
That is just wrong. In case you did not notice, the album was given a new title that references the New York Knicks forward’s many playoff shortcomings: Get a Ring or Die Tryin’. Ouch.
The one for Bryant was not quite as harsh, and instead pointed out what seemingly everyone but Kobe and Los Angeles Lakers fans can see; that his time as a dominant force in the NBA has come to a close. The artist uses one of my all-time favorite albums, Notorious B.I.G.’s Ready to Die.
Ready to Retire was the name of Kobe’s album cover tribute. I cannot think of a better album title for the 5-time NBA Champion. It is how many basketball fans feel, but do not tell Bryant that.
