Toronto Raptors’ to have ‘Drake alternate’ uniform next year

The Toronto Raptors have been changing their brand for the past couple of years, and it has been with the intent of breaking through to the United States market. It has been a clash of ideals that actually have worked well together. The Raptors wanted to be more included into the NBA instead of being just “that team from Canada,” but also embracing their Canadian background.

Part of this has been to appoint musical star Drake as their global ambassador last season. He has been outwardly working with the franchise for the past two years and it seems he is going so far as to have his own alternate Jersey for the team to wear.

The Toronto Raptors will be releasing a new design of their uniforms, so the design is not set just yet. Rumors are running laps around the internet though that Toronto will have a Drake Alternate with a Black and Gold color scheme something like this.

The Black and Gold color scheme of the Drake Alternate shouldn’t be too unfamiliar as it was the color scheme in 2014 when they released their new logo as well as a Drake alternate logo. It is also the color scheme for Drake’s record label OVO.

We shall see later this year exactly what they look like, but it appears a lot of teams this upcoming season will be doing new alternates and overhauls to current designs.
