NBA Most Valuable Player or not, Golden State Warriors guard Stephen Curry is not immune from fines or fouls. On Wednesday, Curry was fined $5,000 following Game 1 of the Western Conference Finals for flopping. The flop occurred as Curry was making a contested 3-point shot. It was fairly obvious that he was at least trying to draw contact as he released the ball, but whether the falling after was intentional in an attempt to draw a foul or if he was really unbalanced is not crystal clear. Judge for yourself.

Regardless of what was really happening here, the league decided it was flopping and deserved a fine.

My opinion is that it could go either way. He has definitely made off-balance shots like that before and fallen to the floor without defender interference. However, it looks like there was the slightest pause between him falling back and then down, so you can definitely make the argument it was a flop.

Regardless, Curry and the Warriors may have started Game 1 slow, but they finished with a flurry to hold the Houston Rockets at bay for the win. Game 2 is on Thursday at ORACLE Arena in Oakland, Calif.
