Klay Thompson has been taken to the locker room in game five after being injured in a collision.

Klay Thompson, despite foul trouble, had been the best offensive weapon for the Golden State Warriors in Game 5 as they tried to advance past the Houston Rockets and get into the NBA Finals.

Unfortunately, he won’t be able to help them close out the game.

Thompson was taken to the locker room early in the fourth quarter after this collision with Trevor Ariza:

To get this out of the way, there’s clearly no intent on the part of Ariza there. He bit on the pump fake and was left flailing in the air. The contact he makes with Thompson’s head and his knee is incidental.

Thompson was taken to the locker room following the blow to the head, making this the second straight game that one of the Splash Brothers has gone to the back with a head injury. Stephen Curry suffered a nasty fall in Game 4, but returned to action after he was cleared for play.

Thompson returned to action later in the fourth quarter with what they were calling a right ear laceration. He was not required to through the concussion protocol.

Soon after returning, though, the laceration on his ear began bleeding and he was again taken to the locker room to try and deal with the cut.

It’s good to see that Thompson is fit to play (barring blood) after that. It certainly looked as if the injury could have been much worse.
