In a tight defensive battle, the Tampa Bay Lightning drew first blood as center Alex Killorn backhanded a goal past Rangers goalie Henrik Lundqvist.

To say Game 7 of the Eastern Conference Finals has been a defensive battle would be an understatement.

Neither team had scored heading into the third period and the Rangers only had 11 shots on goal entering the final frame.

With both goaltenders at the top of their game, it didn’t look like either team was going to be able to get a goal past the other team’s goaltender.

That was until Alex Killorn came by and backhanded a shot right through the defense and past Rangers goalie Henrik Lundqvist.

Even more impressively, he was able to squeeze it between two sets of Lightning and Rangers players before it found its way into the net.

Even Lundqvist was stunned that it got by him.

It’s been a game of inches and neither team looks ready to give in as both look to advance to the Stanley Cup Finals. However, with time running out and the Rangers barely having any shots on net, they’re going to need to generate some chances soon if they want to beat Tampa Bay.
