Joey Gallo’s MLB debut was one for the ages!

The Texas Rangers got the bad news that they had to place Adrian Beltre on the disabled list with a sprained thumb. Rangers fans knew not to worry too much, though, as they had Joey Gallo ready to step into the lineup.

The excitement behind 21-year-old prospect Joey Gallo is his power.  In 206 minor league at-bats in 2012, Gallo had 22 homers. In 411 minor league at-bats in 2013, he had 40 homers. In 439 minor league at-bats in 2014, he had 42 homers. Prior to this Major League call up this season, Gallo had nine homers in 121 at-bats.

Gallo’s first Major League at-bat was in the first on Tuesday, with the bases loaded and two out. He would connect with a two-RBI single.

Gallo’s second Major League at-bat was in the third, with one on and one out. This one would be a monster homer into the second deck!

Gallo’s third Major League at-bat was in the fifth with one out. All he would pull off here is a classic gap-hitting double.

Joey Gallo would be back up at-bat in the sixth inning with bases loaded.  This time with only one out, the mighty Joey Gallo would strike out.

Gallo’s last at-bat would be in the eighth inning with Elvis Andrus standing on third base.  He would draw his first major league walk.

Defensively, Gallo did not touch the ball, but offensively he amazingly finished a triple shy of the cycle.

Almost secondary, his Texas Rangers won 15-2.
