This isn’t a series defined by the Kyrie Irving injury, as the Cavaliers vs. Warriors series is all about Cleveland winning with who they have. There’s no use dwelling on who isn’t out there as time is running out on the Cavaliers to dwell on anything other than winning tonight.
Without Kyrie Irving in the lineup, the Cavaliers but they can’t afford to even that record. Doing so would mean going down 3-2 in a series they must return to Cleveland leading.
It’s not that the Cavaliers are a bad road team, it’s just that if you don’t absolutely have to return to Oracle Arena more than once, you’re going to take the opportunity not to do so. The Warriors are looking to make sure that doesn’t happen and they have one of the best chances all series to do that tonight.
Returning to Cleveland up 3-2 in the series is something that Warriors need to do, as they can’t allow LeBron James to return home knowing he’s just 48 minutes away from his first title in Cleveland. That would be a fatal mistake for the Warriors and one they need to strive towards not committing tonight in Game 5.
