Marc Anthony is growing the scope of his entertainment company, Magnus Media LLC, with the launch of Magnus Sports and the signing of Cincinnati Red’s pitcher Aroldis Chapman.

Back in April of this year 2015, American actor, singer, record and television producer Marc Anthony started his own entertainment company dubbed Magnus Media LLC. Earlier Monday morning according to MLB Trade Rumors, Magnus Media expanded its outreach into sports with the signing of Cincinnati Red’s pitcher Aroldis Chapman under Anthony’s Magnus Sports division. Under Magnus Sports, any major athlete who wishes to do so will be fully represented under Marc Anthony’s brand.

Co-signing on the Aroldis Chapman deal is baseball agency, Praver Shapiro Sports Management, who shares somewhat the same mission statement as Magnus Media with the representation of many up and coming Latin players ( Marlin’s shortstop Adeiny Hechavarria, Chichago Cubs right fielder Jorge Soler and free agent third baseman Juan Uribe to name a few.)

Aroldis Chapman’s contract with the Cincinnati Red’s ends next year making the 27-year-old reliever up for grabs as a free agent. If all goes well for Chapman and no injuries are on the horizon, Chapman sets himself up for what some are calling the next big record breaking contract.

Back when Magnus Media first launched, Anthony stated how,

"“Magnus is a company that is long overdue. It’s simple, really. Latino artists (and athletes) are among some of the world’s biggest brands. Unfortunately though, many of my colleagues, and new artists coming up, too, haven’t had the support to turn that influence into long-term businesses that build value. We’re going to change the game, and have a lot of fun doing it.”"

Comparisons are being drawn to Jay Z and Roc Nation Sports founded just two years prior to Magnus Media. Designed to fill a void in sports management representing Latin players, Aroldis Chapman should be more then taken cared of by a media company that has his best interests in mind.
