Zack Greinke is heading to the Arizona Diamondbacks, and as expected, he’ll be paid handsomely.

In a bit of news that stunned the Major League Baseball world on Friday, it was reported that starting pitcher Zack Greinke would be heading to the Arizona Diamondbacks to play his baseball beginning next season. It was stunning in the sense that there were few people out there who believed that the D-Backs could afford his services.

When it came to potentially landing Greinke, it was all about how much coin he was going to make, especially after the deal David Price got from the Boston Red Sox on Thursday. With this being the case, the thinking among many was that it would be the Los Angeles Dodgers who would be retaining his services, eventually ponying up the cash.

But, as we found out on Friday, that’s not the case. With that being said, you are probably wondering what the Diamondbacks ultimately ended up giving to one of the best pitchers in baseball.

When you see the numbers there, it’s no wonder he was ready to accept a move to Arizona.

Now, with this, you’re probably wondering what did happen with the Dodgers. How were they not able to match or exceed this? Well, it seems it came down to the organization not being comfortable with six years on a new deal.

So, you really have to tip your cap in a way to the Diamondbacks for going all out here, they definitely earned it.
