Golden State Warriors superstar Stephen Curry will try to play like Lionel Messi with his new shin guards.

The Golden State Warriors are rolling as they try to chase down NBA history.

However, the Warriors are currently dealing with the issue of Stephen Curry having nagging problems with a shin contusion. It’s affected Curry on the court and he has even had to leave some games as a result of the shin contusion bothering him.

In an effort to make sure that Curry can stay on the court, the Warriors are slapping some soccer shin guards on Curry to wear in games. With the new shin guards, Curry decided it’s time to play like Lionel Messi on the court, as he told ESPN.

"“I’ve got to bring out my Messi mindset tonight, so we’ll see,” the reigning NBA MVP said, referring to Barcelona forward Lionel Messi."

When it comes to mindsets, there’s few better to copy than that of Messi. Whether it’s with FC Barcelona or his native Argentina, Messi always brings his best in every performance and is an absolute legend. While Curry’s legend is growing as well, taking examples from another great legend is part of what makes him so great.

Curry has always been great about paying respect to those that have created legacies in sports. It will be interesting to see how the shin guards affect him and if they help keep him on the court.

The good news is that he’s bringing the right mindset with him on the court, and that’s one just like Messi.
