Fitzgerald Toussaint finds pay dirt for the first time in his career to give the Steelers a 7-6 lead over Denver.

The Pittsburgh Steelers are without their leading wide receiver Antonio Brown and leading rusher DeAngelo Williams, which means the backups are being thrust into a high-pressure situation. Fitzgerald Toussaint is the Steelers starting running back, and he is going up against a difficult Denver defense that was a top ranked unit in 2015. In the Wild Card round, Toussaint was able to accumulate 58 rushing yards on 17 rushes against the Cincinnati Bengals.

Toussaint was able to break off a 15-yard run to put the Steelers at the one-yard line, trailing Denver 6-0. Toussaint was able to get behind the big Steelers offensive lineman to power his was into the end zone to give Pittsburgh a 7-6 lead over the Broncos.

Toussaint, in the absence of Williams and Le’Veon Bell, gives the Steelers a dynamic runner and pass catcher that gives Ben Roethlisberger another weapon to sling the ball to. As long as Roethlisberger’s shoulder is not in too much pain, the Steelers should be able to put some more points up on this stingy Broncos defense. The Pittsburgh Steelers will have to continue to play fantastic, smash-mouth defense if they hope to beat Denver.
