Should You Pick Up Michael Kidd-Gilchrist?

We should all know that Michael Kidd-Gilchrist has worked his way back from his injury. He is seeming to be fully recovered and chances are if you are in a deep or competitive league that he has already been picked up. However, if you are in a ten team league you may find him straggling around on a few waiver wires. If he is you need to go and claim him immediately.

Michael Kidd-Gilchrist has played well for his last two games and will certainly not be available in any competitive league by the end of this week. He is coming off of a 19 point and 12 rebound double-double. He even managed to knock down two shots from long distance. He is not a very good career shooter from three-point distance, but this is good news for his owners.

Michael Kidd-Gilchrist started at SF and with all of the injuries there he should never have too many worries about getting minutes to play. It will be interesting to see where he gets most of his minutes when Nicolas Batum returns from injury, but I imagine that they will play well together. Batum shoots well from downtown and is also a fairly unselfish player.

Now I am not suggesting here that you should break the bank to add MKG to your roster, but I do believe that he will be a solid contributor for your fantasy squad for the rest of the season. If he available and you have someone to cut then you need to go ahead and add him as quick as you can. If you are looking to trade for him in a standard league then I would be okay with that, but I would temper my expectations. They may still treat MKG with kid’s gloves and his minutes could be watched especially when Batum gets back on the court.

I also will be using Michael Kidd-Gilchrist in daily fantasy leagues until they raise his price and make him too expensive to use. He should be a good value and a nice play over the next few weeks. I also like adding MKG to your roster in keeper and dynasty leagues. He could be a very nice option in those types of leagues. He could be a reasonably priced option there and he is still a nice young player.

To sum it all up I think that Michael Kidd-Gilchrist will be a good addition to your fantasy team, but I would temper my expectations and make sure that I am not over-paying for his services.
