Carey Price injury update: Confident he will return this season

Carey Price is confident he will be in goal again this season for the Montreal Canadiens.

The Montreal Canadiens have suffered this season without reigning Vezina Trophy and Hart Trophy winning goaltender Carey Price. He has been out since November when he returned too soon from an injury that he suffered in October and aggravated the old injury. Since he has been out, Montreal has gone from being one of the best teams in the league to being one of the worst. Price hasn’t ruled out a return during this season.

Montreal would be very wise to tell Carey Price to take it easy and prepare for next season. They have seen how they play without him. He would risk injuring himself again. Losing for an extended period of time next season could be a franchise crippling tragedy. It would also be bad for the World Cup of Hockey. Price was named to the initial roster and expects to play in the friendly tournament in September. The Canadiens netminder is one of the league’s brightest stars so they would love to have him there. An injury would likely prevent that from happening.

Price faced shots during practice on Thursday for the first time since suffering his injury. Montreal is an extreme long shot to make the playoffs so resting Price for next season would be a smart move. With a potentially high draft pick and money to spend, should Montreal play their cards right, they could be back to being Stanley Cup contenders as soon as next season.
