3. Jaguars sign DL Malik Jackson

Contract: 6 years and $85.5 million, $31.5 guaranteed

Coming off a Super Bowl win with the Broncos, Malik Jackson cashed in to become one of the highest paid defensive lineman in the league. Jackson has put up some great numbers and was a big part of the Broncos No. 1-ranked defense last season. That being said, the Jaguars almost certainly paid Jackson more than he is worth.

However, the Jaguars are in a very similar situation to the Raiders in that they have a ton of cap room to work with. That money needs to be spent somewhere, and even if Jackson is overpaid, he is still an excellent player that will contribute right away to a young Jaguars team with a ton of potential.

The Jaguars took a big step forward last year on the offensive side of the ball, but were severely lacking on defense. They were 31st in the league in points per game allowed and 29th in passing yards allowed. The pass rushing skills of Jackson should help out the Jaguars immensely. Coming from a winning culture, he can help be a mentor on a very young Jaguars team and help them take the next step from team with potential to legitimate contender.
